The Alaska Academic Decathlon (high school) and Pentathlon (middle school) programs are among the premier scholastic competitions on both the state and national level. Aligned with National Standards and Alaska’s Educational Challenge, the curriculum for both programs transfer across core content areas to increase student performance in Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and the Arts (other subjects include Economics, Essay, Speech and Interview). Here, in Alaska, the Academic Decathlon and Pentathlon activities are an appropriate use of American Rescue Plan funds while
o providing small group learning opportunities
o engaging students of varying GPAs as individuals & as an integral part of a team
o challenging students to learn about multiple subjects based on a yearly theme
o improving study habits, leveling the playing field for students with varying GPAs, cultivating confidence, developing leaders of the future and re-engaging students into the learning process! o Free curriculum to new Decathlon and Pentathlon teams
