Juneau Alaska Music Matters (JAMM)

JAMM’s Chamber Music Camp has brought together some of Juneau’s finest young string and wind players for a week of music making at Chapel by the Lake this week.
Join us for a free camp concert featuring classic and contemporary pieces for small ensembles this Friday 6pm at Chapel by the Lake.

JAMM thanks our local business sponsor, Hecla Greens Creek, for making this camp possible. We also thank the Juneau Symphony for providing airfare for two out-of-town symphony members who have provided insightful coaching: Bob Olsen and Natalie Brejcha.

JAMM is hiring! We are seeking an Executive Director to steward our organization, which provides tuition free music education and instrumental ensembles for over 550 Juneau youth each year.

Documentary featuring Juneau Alaska Music Matters wraps up filming, gets ‘concept reels’ screening Planned full-length film features northernmost and southernmost El Sistema programs in US; most local footage shot a year ago, with crew returning this week for followup interviews.

JAMM is getting ready to wrap up our 16th year of music making with our annual community celebration.
Join us at KHE this Friday, May 1 at 6 PM for a free concert featuring young musicians from all three JAMM schools, Ursa Major Ensemble, Preludes Ensemble, and the TMMS Orchestra.

JAMM’s annual student recital is this Sunday, April 26. Join us at Chapel by the Lake for a 2pm matinee performance featuring JAMM alumni and private lesson scholarship recipients.

Congratulations to JAMM alum, Ysabel Wilson for her award winning performance at the Academic Decathlon. Ysabel won gold in math, gold in essay, silver in science, and bronze in music!
We wish her luck at the national competition in April.

Registration is open for JAMM’s Bluegrass Camp, June 8-12. Camp is tuition-free and open to all current 4th-8th graders.
