BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

WCC FFA is kicking off the school year with our first chapter night!

Join us Friday, August 28 from 3:30–6:30 PM for good food, line dancing, games, and a fun night with friends.

Bring your friends and come ready to have a great time. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

On the final day of the Arkansas Leadership Conference, we started off in our small groups where we had a recap of what all we've done this week.

Next, we went into our last session. In this session we played a game outside where we were placed in groups of ten and we had to hold hands then untangle ourselves. This exercise exhibited the importance of teamwork and communication.

Finally, we went back indoors and had a recap of each session. To end it all, there was a slideshow filled with our memories of this week.

We started off day three by watching flag raising, and then proceeding into the cafeteria for breakfast where Noah Scoggins did the opening ceremony in the sentinel position.

Next, we had our seventh session which was our service project. In this service project, we made tie knot blankets for people in need. After we finished our service project we headed onto lunch.

After we ate lunch we headed to our small group locations for session 8. In session 8 we played a game outside that shows how one person can have an impact on a huge amount of people.

Next, we went outside to play water games which included a slip 'n' slide as well as water kickball.

Then we had our banquet, where Kinlee Allred participated in Creed Speaking and Noah Scoggins was a part of the posting of the colors. Noah and Audra Headley were also awarded for their leadership abilities and going above and beyond for themselves and their chapters.

To end our day, we went to Family Fun Trackers, where we played mini golf, laser tag, go karts, arcade, and bumper boats!

We started off day two by watching flag raising, and then proceeding into the cafeteria for breakfast.

Next, we had our third session which we talked about what we're proud of within our chapter and how we can advocate for it. Our chapter said we can promote people to join our chapter by talking about our strength in activities and attitude. After the session was finished, we headed out to the low ropes, which were fun teamwork building exercises!

Then we ate lunch and headed to our small group locations for session 4. In session 4 we learned about all of the different parts of the POA: Strengthening Agriculture, Building Communities, and Growing Leaders. We had a discussion about ideas to bring back to our chapter, such as county fair clean-up and a rodeo.

We went onto session 5 where we learned how to manage the perception of our chapter. Our chapter says to stay respectful while also using the facts and actions to show others we're here to do good things.
The sixth session split us back into our small groups. There were multiple different posters around the room and we had to figure out how they were related to agriculture. We also created a social media application, that related to agriculture/FFA.

While students were attending the conference Mr. Anderson was attending Animal Science training on the new frameworks and durable terms for soft skills in the CTE classroom.

Finally, we finish off the night with a night challenge under the pavilion. For the night challenge we all paired up and played toss with a water balloon. After the night challenge we had our reflection. We watched the flag lowering and after we walked until we reached the place where the state officers stood. We all painted our finger and placed it on the poster while we were in reflective state.

Yesterday, 8 WCC FFA members loaded the bus and headed to the Arkansas Leadership Conference at Camp Couchdale in the Hot Springs National Park. We stopped at Roni’s Mac Bar for lunch then headed on to camp.

After 7 of WCC FFA’s students opened up the Conference by completing Opening Ceremonies in front of all in attendance and everyone had dinner the students started the conference with a large group session where they learned how to stand proud and how agriculture leads in everyday life

Then they moved on to small group sessions for session 2. In session 2 they learned the members names in their group, as well as, came up with a team name and chant.

Lastly they competed in a nightly challenge in their small groups were they had a relay race that taught leadership, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

They finished up the night with flag lowering in which WCC’s sentinel Noah Scoggins participated, and then had some free time before lights out.

Yesterday was day 3 and we traveled home today. Well day 3 began with sessions and planning at the hotel. Well then traveled to the National FFA headquarters to work on a couple of service projects. The first, we revitalize the flower beds at the head quarters and the second we prepared the materials to make thousands of leashes that FFA chapters across the nation can request to complete their own service projects at home. We then returned to the conference location and completed the last session and worked on our chapters plan for future service learning opportunities for our students in our community. To wrap up the conference we had a panel of professionals that came in and held a discussion with the students on service learning as a teenager and as they move into college and the workforce. Then the conference handed out awards and let us know that each chapter that participated in the Catalyst conference will receive a $1500 grant to help the students execute the plans they made at the conference! This morning we left Indy at 5am and returned to our community very tired but thankful to have received the privilege of representing Arkansas in Indy! Stayed for for our next adventure which leaves at noon tomorrow!

We started off day two with a wonderful session on planning for the impact of your service learning project. We loaded the busses and headed to the Crown Hill foundation which is composed of 3 national cemeteries. The students where divided up into three different groups and learned about the impact quality directions and supplies can have on a project. While there the students installed a large flower bed and helped to clear away some very prolific honey suckle. After returning to the hotel we got some chapter time to plan our own service learning project we hope to implement when we return to school next year. We had a wonderful dinner then started our next service learning project where the students made flower arrangements and wrote cards to be delivered to the Crowne Point Assisted living center. It was a great day and our students learned many valuable skills to bring back home to our school and community!
