What a fun project to be a part of!!! JEF was thrilled to support Mrs. Lyman's 2nd grade class as they worked together to improve their playground. From designing a survey, to collecting data....they even helped build the new equipment! Their dedication to civic engagement and making Joseph Charter a better place was inspirational. Awesome work kids!!!!! Have fun playing!

Joseph Education Foundation is looking to build a team of volunteers for the 2021-2022 school year! Volunteers help with fundraising events, staff appreciation and supporting all of JCS's amazing kids. Check your child's backpack for the flyer below or send us an email at [email protected].

Ask almost anyone whose child has spent hours practicing the recorder at home what they think about Michelle Homan and you’ll hear things like, “Wonder Woman” and “patience of a saint”. We wholeheartedly agree! This Wonder Woman is the music teacher for grades K-12 and typically organizes several amazing school concerts each year. As if that isn’t enough (and trust us, it is!), this year she filled in as the Spanish I & II teacher and was the “on-campus” teacher for a group of students attending school online and is also a track coach. With band classes starting as early as 7 a.m. and track practice running into the evening hours, it is obvious that Mrs. Homan not only has a ton of energy, but she is also very committed to JCS students. Her favorite part of teaching is “seeing how much they grow musically throughout the school year”. For fun, we asked Mrs. Homan what she would choose to eat if she were stranded on a deserted island and could only have one food, and she chose Lucky Charms with milk. That seemed fitting since we feel so “lucky” to have her. Our hats go off to you, Mrs. Homan!

So happy we could help support another great Battle of the Books!!! We love growing great readers!

This month we wanted to spotlight a seasoned veteran of Joseph Charter School. Many of you know Kendall Hayes, but did you know this is her 21st year at JCS? With two decades of teaching behind her, Ms. Hayes’s enthusiasm and dedication have not diminished. She has a big job and wears many hats at JCS, working as the High School Science Department, 7th-12th Health, Career Guidance Counselor, District Testing Coordinator, Tech Team Co-Lead, Data Management, and more!
Her favorite part of working with kids is “seeing them proud of something they accomplished and watching their growth from 7th to 12th grade. It really is like having a LOT of kids, and I can’t help but join in their triumphs and try to help them pull up from their defeats”.
Those of us who know her, know just how lucky we are that Ms. Hayes is a part of our JCS education team! Ms. Hayes, thank you for your ongoing commitment to our students and for helping shape their future in such a positive way.

Our JCS kids are amazing!!! Helping the city, raising money to support a family, and working together to get the job done!!!

02/15/2021

JEF would love to start getting to know some of our school's amazing staff starting with Brandi Schultz! Brandi joined the JCS Team in October of 2020 as a daytime custodian. Her favorite part about working with kids is "hearing them laugh!" When asked what she would bring if shipwrecked and stranded on a deserted island, she thoughtfully replied "A pan. That way, I could boil water to drink!" Brandi- we are thrilled to have such a savvy, thoughtful addition to our JCS staff!

While we know that ALL Joseph Charter staff are amazing, JEF wanted to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Koehn and Mrs. Fough! These two amazing women have been leading the charge for all JCS students participating in virtual learning. For the past 5 months, they have been teaching kids, connecting with families and making each virtual student feel like they are still a part of the JCS family! Thank YOU Mrs. Koehn and Mrs. Fough! You truly are Super Stars!

A big shout out to Phate Clark for letting us use his amazing artwork. Phate's illustration helped create holiday thank yous for every member of the Joseph staff! We love our teachers...and our creative kiddos!

If you are interested in joining our efforts, reach out on Facebook, via email or just talk to one of these five!
