The Payroll Protection Program is opening again next week. This could be helpful for businesses impacted by COVID-19. Contact your bank for more information.

BREAKING: SBA, in consultation with The U.S. Department of the Treasury, announced today that the Program will re-open the week of January 11 for new borrowers and certain existing PPP borrowers.

To promote access to capital, initially only community financial institutions will be able to make First Draw PPP Loans on Monday, January 11, and Second Draw PPP Loans on Wednesday, January 13. The PPP will open to all participating lenders shortly thereafter.

This round of the PPP continues to prioritize millions of Americans employed by small businesses by authorizing up to $284 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses through March 31, 2021, and by allowing certain existing PPP borrowers to apply for a Second Draw PPP Loan.

The legacy project will be coming to La Grande in May.

๐Ÿคท Where will Main Street lead us next?

The baby boom generation includes at least seven million owners of privately held businesses, many of who will want to sell or liquidate their businesses in the next two decade. Without available buyers in rural communities, this could result in thousands of businesses disappearing along with the attached jobs and sense of place for the community.

One solution is selling to the businessโ€™ employees as a worker co-op. Workers pooling their resources allows the business owner to receive a retirement, the workers to keep their jobs, and the community to keep a valued business.
