Peer Buddies in Joplin Schools

Today we competed in the Special Olympics Track & Field at Carl Junction High School. We had 53 athletes compete and brought home so many medals!

It was a great day of friendship, competition, and inclusion watching our athletes show courage, confidence, and pure joy every step of the way.

So proud of each and every one of them! 🦅💙

This is an amazing opportunity for many of our students!!

Do you have an athlete with special needs or a disability that would love the opportunity to be a part of an all star cheerleading team? We are fielding interest for our upcoming 26-27 season and would love to have enough athletes to create a cheerabilities team. It is important for us that we are offering inclusiveness and opportunity for athletes of all abilities. Being a part of a team sport creates memories and life lessons that all athletes should be able to experience.

Joplin High School’s Life Skills & Peer Buddy Program are looking for community sponsors to help support real-world learning experiences for students with disabilities. These experiences go beyond the classroom and include community outings, budgeting, shopping, public transportation, and building meaningful friendships with peer buddies.

Your support helps ensure all students can participate regardless of financial barriers and allows us to continue expanding these opportunities throughout the school year and beyond.
