New Bibles, new readers. Our 3rd graders — plus our new students in older grades — each received their own Bible in chapel this morning.

Miss Lutz handed a Faith Alive Student Bible to every one of them. Not a classroom copy to share. Their own, to read, mark up, carry home, and keep.

Our chapel theme was planting seeds of faith. Jesus told a parable about a farmer scattering seed, and God's Word is the seed. We don't make it grow. We put it in the soil and trust the One who does.

That is what this year's school theme means. Rooted in Christ. Roots come first, and roots come from the Word — which is now in these students' hands.

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." — Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV)

Pray for these students as they read and hold onto God's Word.

Full days, every day — that's our preschool for 3s and 4s, with care until 6:00. Bible stories and prayer are just part of the day around here, the classes stay small, and your child can grow up in the same school all the way through 8th grade.

We keep our classes small on purpose — usually 12 to 15 kids. It means the teacher actually knows your child: how they learn, what makes them laugh, when they're having an off day. Those spots go quick this time of year, so come see what it looks like.

Samson. Gideon. Deborah. Jael and a tent peg. The wildest book in the Bible starts Thursday at 9:30 AM.

Judges is the most violent, chaotic, uncomfortable stretch of the Old Testament — and one of the clearest pictures of the Gospel you will find anywhere... Israel sins. Israel is oppressed. Israel cries out. God rescues. Israel sins again. Seven times over, God keeps saving a people who keep refusing to learn.

“Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them.” (Judges 2:16)

Here is the thing about a 9:30 Thursday morning: it belongs to a particular kind of person. If you are retired and your calendar finally answers to you. If you drop kids at school and have the morning. If the little are in class and the house just went quiet. If you work nights and Thursday is your Saturday. This one is for you.

No homework. No prior study. Just bring a Bible, and let's learn together.
