On Tuesday night, the Joplin Schools Board of Education voted to approve the 2023-24 calendar. The calendar was created and voted on by a district committee of administrators and departmentally diverse staff members in order to narrow down priorities around attendance days, staff professional development needs, standardized testing dates, holidays, semester lengths, and more.

The first day of school falls on Monday, August 21. The last day of school falls on Friday, May 24. As has been our recent practice, the calendar plans for the first five inclement weather days to be used as AMI (Alternate Method of Instruction) days. Additional inclement weather day, if needed, may be made up on Monday, Feb. 19 and/or forgiven for students.

An update from our Athletics Department:

🏀 Today’s JHS Boys Basketball games at Central have been postponed due to weather. The games have been rescheduled for Friday, February 24 also at Central. That night the freshmen will begin at 4:30 and be followed by JV and varsity.

🏊‍♀️ JHS Girls Swimming at the COC meet in Webb City has been postponed due to the potential for winter weather. A reschedule date is not available at this time.

🏀 Game times for the Seventh and Eighth grade Boys Basketball at Carthage tonight will begin earlier: the A games will start at 4:30pm, with B games to follow.
