We have been all over the place this week in anticipation of our students returning soon! Staff were welcomed back at the annual Joplin Rah-Rah on Tuesday, followed by several trainings, collaboration, and a little bit of fun!

All of our programs gathered at DEC today (Beacon, CBSS, & Beacon Autism Center). We had a hefty breakfast and were able to learn more about how language impacts behavior, presented by our good friend Lori Situ, SLP.
Our own amazing Deanna Hunter presented about Adverse Childhood Experiences- ACEs, long term effects of trauma, and how impactful one caring adult can be in brain development recovery from toxic stress.

We wrapped up the day with a little fun. Several challenges were placed around the building, igniting teamwork and some fierce competition to win a trophy! Enjoy some footage from today. 🤠

We have been very busy bees 🐝🐝 at DEC preparing our building for this coming school year. Lots of bulletin boards to be decorated, classrooms to organize, enrollment forms to complete and shirts to be made for our first day back. Thank you to everyone who came in and helped make it happen! 🐝🐝

Lots of new faces in our building this year! We have a new custodian, Dustin Odett. He is very busy cleaning and preparing our building for our students and staff to arrive. He has been also been super helpful to those of us needing help with set-up. Thank you so much for the extra set of hands. Help us welcome Mr. Dustin to DEC!

Our Pop-Up Produce program returns Monday, August 17, with FREE fresh produce available while supplies last!
