Hello!! It’s been quite awhile since we’ve posted. There aren’t a lot of projects going on in the fall & spring & I’m still trying to figure out what to do in the in between.

However, my little ones teamed up with my on my personal page this month & have been sharing some fun facts and knowledge for black history month. My littlest decided she wanted to share a book that she loves. wrote a beautiful book all about our beloved Bedtime Bonnet. We hope you enjoy!!

This book was not what I expected but I love the direction it took! This book tackles so many different conversations. How can we respond to hate? Can the past help us better understand our current situation? Can a community that is not always welcoming to everyone band together? What does forgiveness look like? If you are buying a present for a 5th-8th grade teacher, this would be a great addition to their classroom library.

If your kiddos book fair doesn’t have these beauties on their shelves, you are missing out! We’ve read Change Sings multiple times already & Linked has been on my list since I saw it this summer.

We are 1 week in and we are so close to filling up our first box of books for Cecil Floyd Elementary! Each school is a bit different, but we usually fill up 2-3 large totes for every school that we work with. If you would still like to donate books, there is plenty on our list! Check out the linktree in our bio!!

I saw this book at Target the other day & immediately thought of all my mer-friends! I immediately came home and added it to my newest wishlist. The story is about a tenacious mermaid that has to problem solve and overcome obstacles to find her grand treasure. My 6 year old said she’d never seen a brown skinned mermaid & her twin reminded her that he had never seen a brown skin merman until we were introduced to last year! Sometimes diverse books bring magic to life for kiddos that had never seen the magic within themselves!

I cannot tell you all how excited I am to work with my favorite Missions Team! I started working at Saint Paul’s just as I wrapped up my first summer creating wishlists for schools. (Balance is hard y’all!!) My coworkers loved the work we were doing and wanted to be a part of it. We would love to see our community team up with Saint Paul's Church to bring diverse books to the school in our own backyard!

Use this link -> https://sp.church/events/ to get to our linktree and make sure to click on Cecil Floyd Elementary!!

Let’s see how quickly we can clear this list!!

I asked my 10 year old to share a book that he read this year that he would recommend to all of his friends. I love his choice! Takedown is all about a young girl that is breaking barriers to play a sport that most people don’t think she belongs in. Any book that is about breaking barriers sounds great to me!!

Happy Friday! I wanted to share this information with you, just in case you didn’t see our story. is working hard to open a black owned bookstore in Milwaukee. There are currently ZERO black owned bookstores in the state. She’s been putting in work for quite awhile now, and even shifted gears to a mobile bookstore model when Covid hit. The store is amazing. I have shared this before, but one of my hopes for Get Diverse Lit. Is to connect our project leaders with locally owned bookstores instead of big box companies. How much bigger of an impact will we be able to make on communities when we achieve this goal? We are currently working with our first black & locally owned bookstore () via our project leader in MO. So how can we support Niche Book Bar’s efforts? Share their info on your social media platforms, share their pages, and if you are able, donate. Times are hard, but our work here doesn’t stop! We support diverse lit and I will continue to strive to make sure schools all over our country have access to diverse literature!
