Form Drawing :

Form drawing is a unique educational practice where children draw continuous, flowing lines, straight paths, and curves to build hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and the foundational skills for handwriting.

In the beginning of the your, our literacy lessons focus on the physical process of movement rather than a perfect final product. The children are building upon their motor skills: strengthening fine motor control, muscle memory, and pencil grip. It will enhance spatial tracking, teaching the up-and-down, left-to-right orientation, with midline crossing.

If you haven’t incorporated form drawing in your weekly rhythm, give it a try. A beautiful short story that coincides with the type of form is the perfect addition ✨

Farm To Table Summer Program ~*

The children have created the most incredible meals together this week…harvesting fresh from the gardens to add to their recipes, spending each morning carefully preparing their lunch, from fire roasted potatoes, to kale salad, to learning how to mill grain for fresh pasta, to homemade ice cream….sharing in a meal each day that they created together, setting the table with fresh cut flowers, a lit candle and hand written ( from the children) affirmations on their plates ~* Truly the best week ever.

Our Eco Quest Summer Program just finished up a week of deep discussions, hands-on discovering, and a huge sense of hope for the future of our Earth. These children were incredibly inspiring. We discussed ecosystems and the effects we can have, dissected owl pellets to understand how the connections are made…had a HUGE mind blowing discussion of energy, clean ones, green ones, and dirty ones and built solar ovens to back s’mores in…. Talked about the importance of bees and visited our apiary where the children suited up to observe how they communicate and their behaviors ( thank you Courtney Andrews for your help!) and built bug hotels for the solitary bees and beneficial insects…we talked about Reduce,Reuse,Recycle and made paper from used scraps and took a good look at our own lunch waste to make better choices….and we looked at our creek ecosystem to observe the signs and macroinvertebrates that determine a healthy waterway!!!

And through each day, we had the most passionate conversations about what we can do, what we can change, and how to support our environment. Thank you young minds…you are our future 🌎

For nine wonderful years, this forest has been our classroom, and nature has been our teacher. We have watched muddy boots turn into confident steps, and curious whispers turn into a lifelong love for the earth. To every child who has found beauty in the natural wonders of our earth, every family who has trusted our vision, and every educator who has shared their passion....thank you. You are the heartbeat of our forest. Here is to 9 years of growing together, and to many more seasons of wonder ahead. Thank-you for your continued support. An incredible week was had at our Path Finders Summer Solstice Program ✨ Together we handmade candles, plant dyed yarn, bundle dyed bandanas with our garden flowers, learned the craft of fire-making skills, archery, and creek ecology. See you all next year!!!

Our Folk Craft Summer Program was a week of wonder, creativity, and old-fashioned making. Children gathered plants for dye, transformed wool into colorful creations, made paper by hand, crafted puppets through wet and needle felting, and discovered the magic of natural fibers. Alongside creek explorations and forest adventures, campers practiced patience, imagination, and the joy of creating something beautiful with their own hands ✨

It was a magical week in the forest for our Sense of Wonder camp! This camp is specifically designed for neurodivergent children or those who may not be able to easily or safely participate in our summer programs without a caregiver present. From the gentle notes of music therapy, to the taste of juicy tomatoes and the feeling of slippery creek rocks, these children made the most of their time in nature. It was beautiful to witness. Thank you to our dear educator, Senora Sam, for creating this opportunity for our community ~*

Spanish Enrichment ~*

On Thursdays our children have Spanish Enrichment with Señora Sam for Main Lesson. Introducing Spanish in early childhood offers numerous benefits for children….including enhanced language skills, improved cognitive abilities, and broader cultural understanding.

In their lessons they learn their colors, numbers, names of fruits and vegetables, how to great each other, and say their name.
To culminate all that they have learned Señora Sam set up a market in our greenhouse where each of the classes took turns buying and selling to each other and incorporating the Spanish greetings, thank you’s, numbers, names of items, and colors. Such an incredibly rich closure to our program year. Thank you so much Sam 🫶🏼

End Of Our Year May Faire ~*

Last evening , we all joined together to honor the children in our annual May Faire. A special gathering to recognize each child and their growth throughout the year. As they walk the wildflower spiral in they are asked to reflect upon the year, then in the middle they receive a flower symbolizing their inner beauty and growth and all their gifts they provide...and spiral out to a new year. It is a profoundly beautiful evening and we were so honored to all that came.

This year they began the evening by showcasing their Spanish verse, and sang several songs.

To culminate the evening, the children served their families a salad from our garden that they grew and harvested, topped with a dressing from cut garlic scapes along with additional bites they learned to make in the Farm To School program with Ms. Maria.

So much gratitude to all of the children, their families, and our community for all the support they give us. We are so thankful to you 🫶🏼

Thank you to all our educators this year…Ms. Grace, Ms. Micky, Ms.Maria, Ms. Josie, Senora Sam, and Ms. Amie🫶🏼 and our utmost gratitude to Billy and Roxanne Cox for the land and continuous support. May the summer break be filled with adventure and wonder. All our love to you ♥️
