Paragould Parks and Recreation is excited to share a new outdoor chess table at the Paragould Community Center, generously provided by the Paragould Rotary Club! We are grateful for their support and commitment to creating fun, engaging spaces for our community to enjoy.

School's back! Welcome back to the students who have played with us before, and hello to the 2026 freshmen class who might be finding us for the first time. We're meeting tonight to play chess, as we do every single week. We have NO dues, NO membership forms, and NO idea how the knight moves. Just come to Panera Bread (it's on Red Wolf Blvd) between 6pm to 9pm and get some games.

Aside from that, I have to mention the quads. For the past couple of years, we held seasonal weekly quad tournaments on Sundays. We had planned to begin a new season for this semester, but unfortunately our 2 tournament directors don't have the time and resources to bring the quads back without serious compromises. So instead of doing that, we're focusing on Friday night chess. We're sorry to the regular quad players - thank you for understanding.

Some of our regulars for the Sunday Quads have indicated they're attending the Arkansas Open this weekend. To keep our leaderboard fair and help any other players who want to attend that event, our quad this week (the 24th) is canceled. Good luck in Fairfield Bay, everyone!

Happy Mother's Day! Show your mom she raised you smart; come play in our weekly 3-round chess tournament this evening. 😁 Registration ends at 4:15, round 1 at 4:30.

Summer season begins today, so the leaderboard has been cleared. For the next 3 months, it's anyone's game! We had 16 players in the Spring season, help us double that this time.
