Welcome to the 4th Grade Book Café! ☕️📚
Our 4th grade students in Mrs. Cox and Ms.
Ford’s classrooms recently participated in a fun and engaging Book Tasting! 📖✨
Students visited our classroom “book café” and sampled books from a variety of genres. They read round-robin style for five minutes, then turned and talked with their table partners about what they were reading. After each tasting, students responded in complex sentences, explaining what they liked or didn’t like about the book—and, most importantly, why.
But the fun didn’t stop there! Students:
📚 Created bookmarks with a list of books they want to read
🎨 Decorated placemats featuring their favorite books
🍪 Enjoyed café cookies, muffins, salty treats, and a few candies while they read
📝 Added their names to sticky notes and placed them on books they wanted to come back to
The goal was to encourage our readers to branch out, take a chance, and “taste” books they might not normally choose for themselves. And it worked! We heard so many students say they were surprised by how much they enjoyed books they never would have picked on their own. We even had students asking to read new books they discovered during the tasting! ❤️📚
Sometimes, all it takes is one little taste to discover a new favorite book
