I have 35 years of Law Enforcement experience including 5 years at the Craighead County Sheriff's Department serving as Deputy Sheriff and Criminal Investigator. I continued my career in Law Enforcement with the Arkansas State Police where I retired as a Sergeant after serving the citizens of Arkansas for 30 years. If elected as your Sheriff I will implement a Drug Interdiction Unit that will patrol the highways coming in and out of Craighead County. We are one of the largest populated counties in the state and we currently have a major drug problem that needs to be addressed. I helped start our current Drug Task Force in 1990 while working in CID Narcotics for the State Police. We currently have half the deputy manpower in our DTF office that we had when our Task force was started. I will implement more available deputies back into the DTF office to fight the major drug problem in our county. I will help support our local Jonesboro street crimes unit by offering man power to assist with crime suppression. I will implement a gang task force whether operated unilaterally or with the assistance of our surrounding agencies. We will bring back PROACTIVE boots on the ground patrolling of farm shops and other rural areas of the county. As you can see I recognize that we have a problem in our county with drugs, gang violence, and theft. These will be the first issues I address if elected as your Sheriff.
