NEW! Code Club @ Jonesboro Learning Pods

We have had several families request a tech-based program & I am excited to start code club once a month at JLP. The club will meet the last Monday evening of each month.

Is your student interested in technology, game design, problem solving? This club will be ran by an experienced high school computer science teacher! In their one hour session, students will get hands-on coding practice in a fun, collaborative setting.

⭐️WHO: JLP kids, homeschoolers in the community, & public school kids are all welcome! 4th grade & up.

⭐️COST: $25 (EFA approved or out-of-pocket)

⭐️WHAT YOU NEED: Just an iPad!

⭐️WHEN: The Last Monday of each month, starting September 28

⭐️WHERE: Jonesboro Learning Pods (@ Ridgecrest Baptist Church - 610 Powell Dr)

Pods A & B started exploring Day 2 of creation this week. God separated waters from waters, by creating an expanse.

Many of their minds were blown when they found out clouds were water! Today, we made our very own cloud in a jar. We learned that clouds need 3 ingredients:

1. Water V***r
2. Cool air
3. Tiny particles

It was so fun and we are excited to keep exploring all the science that corresponds with God’s creation of the expanse!

This week, Pod D students dove headfirst into the world of enzymes and biological catalysts!

Using everyday household items like yeast and hydrogen peroxide, students observed catalase rapidly break down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen gas.

Key takeaways:
- Catalysts speed things up: Enzymes lower activation energy so life-sustaining chemical reactions happen in seconds rather than months!
- Energy in action: Students felt the reaction release thermal energy (an exothermic reaction).
- Reusable workers: Enzymes aren't used up in reactions. They keep on working!

Pods at the Farm! 🎃🐄🌽

We will have a “field trip” to Jackson Farm on Fri, Oct 16. This is one of their homeschool days. Student admission is $11 & Parents/Guests are $14. Hours are 9am-2pm that day.

Brunch theme! We made yogurt parfait, scrambled eggs, and cinnamon toast 🍳🍞

Cooking class is so much fun! The cinnamon toast got rated a 10/10 by everyone!!!

Dice addition!! 🎲➕

Pod A is working on addition and subtraction within 10. Today, we rolled 2 dice to create & solve an addition “math sentence” (equation)

They are doing great!!! 👏🏻
