In May of 2021, my husband Brian and I finally realized our decade-long dream of owning a piece of land in the NC mountains. We closed the deal on a once-junk-ridden commercial nursery, marking the occasion (not-so-coincidentally) on our 9th wedding anniversary. WILDHAVEN represents the culmination of our shared passion for the outdoors and restoration/conservation efforts. It's our little forest

oasis where I, Cassandra, can unleash my creativity through art and host women's retreats. Having been a professional photographer and entrepreneur for over a decade, this venture feels like a natural extension of my journey. Combined with Brian's enthusiasm for mountain biking, trail building (and hopes for a sanctuary of fluffy animals and growing things) Wildhaven is a forever work-in-progress...just like us.

Listen, You may be ready for flannel. Our teeny farm has other plans.

We spent most of spring and summer building a new bathhouse, wellness courtyard and two tiny sleeping cottages, which turns out is not particularly conducive to getting things planted on time.🫣

We finally got things in the ground, and then the weird cold mountain nights stuck around and our flowers basically said, “Nope. We’ll wait.”

Well. Apparently they’re ready now.

Suddenly we have some flowers and lots of potted herbs, the chickens are doing their thing, and we have more Unagi cucumbers than two people have any business trying to eat.

So, we finally have some things for you!

We’ve been keeping a few secrets. But we’re done keeping them.

Over the past year, Wildhaven has continued to evolve…thoughtfully.

There are now tiny storybook sleeping cottages tucked into the forest and meadow. (And of course, our darling Airstream Cottage)

A new, truly wildhaven, bathhouse.
A wellness courtyard.
Swings hidden in the woods.
Flower fields
Little waterfalls you have to go looking for.
Gardens, wildflowers, fire, and plenty of places we’ve deliberately left a little wild.

Some of it is new. Some of it has been here all along.

And all of it is ready to be discovered.

Wildhaven is officially open for an intentional number of intimate stays.

Extraordinary evenings are created by extraordinary people.

As I look around at this year's Wildfire, I'm reminded that evenings like this don't begin when guests arrive.

They begin months—and sometimes years—earlier.

They begin with farmers caring for the land. With heirloom grains being milled. With vines growing through another High Country season. With a chef walking the forests in search of wild ingredients. With countless thoughtful decisions made by people who have devoted themselves to their craft.

One of my favorite parts of Wildfire has always been bringing these incredible people together around the table.

This year's dinner is a celebration of North Carolina—from the High Country to the coast—and of the people who grow, forage, craft, prepare, and share the very best our state has to offer.

I'm deeply grateful to each of them for saying yes to this evening, and to all of you who continue to support these gatherings.

At Wildhaven, Brian and I simply have the privilege of creating the place where these stories meet—where conversations linger, strangers become friends, and an unforgettable meal becomes something even more meaningful.

I can't wait to gather around the table with all of you this Saturday...and again in September.

**Last night was called our ‘Summer Preview’ -but between dinner, laughter, and watching the light fade through the trees, it started to feel a lot more like a housewarming.**

Not because Wildhaven is new.

But because this next chapter is.

It was a table filled with people who’ve helped shape Wildhaven over the years.

Some built stone swim platforms . Some planted flowers. Some believed in what Wildhaven could become long before there was much to see. (And some even showed up in the eleventh hour with a Shop-Vac and cleaning supplies when our plans for a cleaner to help get the place ready fell apart the day before everyone arrived.)

Before sharing this next chapter of Wildhaven with more people, it felt right to gather the people who’ve quietly helped write it.

We shared a very simple summer meal, added a few touches from the farm, watched the light fade through the trees, and lingered around the table for a bit after dinner was over. There was laughter, stories, and the kind of evening that reminds us why we started this in the first place.

Wildhaven hasn’t become something different.

It’s simply becoming more of what we’ve always imagined—adding new places to rest, new ways to reconnect, and a little more room for wonder, connection, and ease.

It’s almost time to flip the calendar to July. But I find myself lingering on June for just a minute longer 🙂

Our friend Lanie paints some of her favorite places throughout the High Country each year and makes them into a gorgeous calendar- and seeing Wildhaven included among them brings us lots of joy.

It made me realize something.

One of the greatest gifts Wildhaven has given us hasn’t been the buildings or the flowers. It’s the people.

Artists. Farmers. Musicians. Chefs. Volunteers. Makers. Guests. People who care deeply about creating beautiful, meaningful things and experiences somehow keep finding their way here.

That wasn’t something we planned.

It’s something we have noticed.

Fun fact: Lanie also just completed a hand-painted map of Wildhaven that guests will soon use to wander the property and discover little corners they might have otherwise missed. It feels like the perfect next chapter, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

For now, I’m just feeling grateful for the little community that has quietly grown around this little place.

This weekend, a small group gathered to learn about flowers, help plant part of the season ahead, and spend an afternoon outside together.

It was our very first Field Day, and honestly, it felt a little like watching Wildhaven come to life in a new way.

There were dirty hands, muddy boots, lots of questions, plenty of laughter, and more than a few moments where people simply slowed down and enjoyed being exactly where they were.

As we continue building this season, that’s what we’re hoping to create more of:

Thoughtful experiences.
Meaningful gathering.
And reasons to spend a little more time outside.

We’re already looking forward to the next one.
