Rocco Szambelan threw a complete game (6H, 2R, 1ER, 7K, 1BB) to lead the Hilltoppers (21-14) to the JCA Class 3A Regional Championship.

Nick Koontz had two RBI’s and Cody Busch scored two runs. Koen Lynes, Derrick Pomatto, Steve Martin, and Josh Perez added RBI’s.

The Hilltoppers travel to the Washington Sectional and will face Dunlap at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.

IHSA Class 3A JCA Regional Semifinal

The Hilltoppers scored four in the 4th to break a 1-1 tie. Evan Wills earned the win combining with Barrett Diaz and Jacob Wojciechowski to strike out nine and walk none. Steve Martin had two hits and 2 RBIs. AJ Perez and Josh Perez also added 2 RBI’s. The Hilltoppers improved to 20-14 on the year and await the winner of Morris and Plano on Saturday at 10 a.m. for the regional championship.

Steve Martin was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Evan Wills struck out five in four innings as Joliet Catholic picked up a 7-2 Class 3A regional semifinal victory
