It's Board Member Monday!
Amy Sanchez, a native of Joliet’s Eastside community and Joliet Central graduate (Class of 1997), currently serves as our Vice President.
After graduation, she began working at the Joliet Police Department while studying criminal justice at Joliet Junior College. She transitioned to full-time motherhood and continued to pursue her career ambitions. In 2010, Amy initiated her community activism by founding the Collins Street Neighborhood Council, later expanding her involvement across multiple organizations including Unity Community Development Corporation and Joliet Ravens Youth Football. She currently is a community leader and operations strategist and serves as Director of Operations & Development for Joliet Unity Movement, an organization she played a pivotal role in establishing. She leads partnerships, youth initiatives, and community engagement efforts focused on violence prevention, civic leadership, and neighborhood empowerment. Amy is also cofounder of Movement Enterprises LLC, a consulting firm supporting mission-driven organizations and public partners, with Joliet Unity Movement as its founding anchor.
Her professional background includes workforce advocacy and economic development, previously serving as Program Director at Warehouse Workers for Justice, which now remains a trusted partner organization working in alignment to support workers, families, and community-driven initiatives.
In addition to serving on our Executive Board, she serves as the Founder & Vice- President of the Collins St Neighborhood Council, , Board Member of the Spanish Community Center, Board Member of Warehouse Workers Action, and as a board member supporting community-centered initiatives across the region. A longtime advocate for workers, families, youth, and community her work centers on building pathways for residents to lead, heal, and thrive.

It is Board Member Monday!
Mark Turk, a Joliet Township High School graduate (Class of 1960), has served as our President for the past 29 years!
After earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois, Mark went on to serve 4 years as an Asst. Missile Officer, Nuclear Weapons Officer, Flight Test Engineer, and Base Security Officer. After his active duty, he later went on to serve in the Naval Reserves.
Professional, Mark worked as a wholesale food distributor and later went on to be a realtor for 26 year, officially retiring in 2008.
In addition to serving as our Board President, Mark belongs to the Joliet Noon Lions Club (past President, current Financial Secretary and Treasurer), Joliet Jewish Congregation (past President, current House Chair and Life Member), and has served on the Joliet Area Community Hospice Board, completing a 6 year term.
Mark lives in Joliet with his wife, Celeste, and has two children and two grandchildren. Thank you, Mark, for all you do for the Joliet Township High School Community!

Our President, Mark Turk, and Vice President, Amy Sanchez were thrilled to attend the Joliet Township High School District 204 State of the District last night! We are proud to continue to support such a wonderful district!
