Sunshine and Rainbows Learning Center The Right Preschool For All The Right Reasons The Sunshine and Rainbows Learning Center is an extension of early learners of the Joliet Park District.

Sunshine and Rainbows Learning Center follows the Illinois Early Childhood Standards and Benchmarks. We teach children holistically and as individuals in a caring environment. In the classroom many different opportunities for learning are provided using center based exploration, sensory tubs, developmentally appropriate literacy and math lessons, props, and manipulatives. In addition each classroom has physical eduation and music instruction. Our Learning Center uses the "Handwriting Without Tears" method for teaching pre-writing and printing skills. Computer time is also available that helps reinforce colors, shapes, patterns, and letter recognition through the use of the mouse and keyboard. The purpose of the Joliet Park District page is to inform the public about the Park District’s programs, activities, events and news. This page is not monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week and, as such, posts and responses from the Park District should not be immediately expected. The Park District typically monitors this site during office hours (Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm). 🌈💕 FROM LITTLE RAINBOWS TO BRIGHT FUTURES!

Some friendships begin in preschool… and last a lifetime! 💖

Today, my heart is absolutely BURSTING! ❤️

I had the most wonderful surprise when two very special Sunshine & Rainbows alumni, Sarah and Tabitha, stopped by for a visit!

These two lovely young ladies first walked through our doors as little 3- and 4-year-olds at Sunshine & Rainbows Learning Center. They continued growing up with us through our Joliet Park District specialty camps — Kinder Camp, Camp Sendak, Camp Connect, and even our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program!

And now… THEY ARE GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL THIS YEAR! 🎓💕

But here is what makes their story even sweeter. Sarah and Tabitha became friends way back in preschool, and even though one now lives in Arizona and the other here in Illinois, their friendship has remained as strong as ever! True-blue friends since their Sunshine & Rainbows days! 🌈👭

As I walked them through the school today, the stories started flowing! The laughter, the memories, the little things they remembered about their classrooms, teachers, camps, and adventures brought me so much joy. To hear how much those experiences meant to them all these years later was truly a gift.

These two little preschoolers have grown into beautiful, intelligent, kindhearted young women with such bright futures ahead of them.

Do I think Sunshine & Rainbows deserves the credit for the amazing young ladies they have become? Of course not! That belongs to their wonderful families and all the people who have helped guide them along the way. But knowing that my staff and I had the privilege of being a small but meaningful part of their beginnings? That means more to me than words can express. ❤️

To Sarah and Tabitha's families, thank you for sharing your precious girls with us all those years ago. What an honor it has been to watch a little piece of their journey come full circle.

And to Sarah and Tabitha, THANK YOU for coming back to visit! You have no idea how much you lifted my spirits today. I am so incredibly proud of you both, and I cannot wait to see where life takes you next!

🦇🔬 STEM THURSDAY WITH COACH MICHAEL — ALL ABOUT BATS! Our little scientists went batty for STEM today! 🦇💜

During Coach Michael’s STEM lesson, our students explored the fascinating world of **BATS! They learned how to describe a bat’s body parts, behaviors, and dwellings, while discovering something especially important—bats are helpers in our ecosystem! 🌎🌿

And of course, we couldn’t learn about bats without a little hands-on fun! Each student created their very own "bat" and then designed a special "bat cave" for it to call home. 🦇🏠

We love watching our preschoolers ask questions, investigate, create, and discover during STEM with Coach Michael. Learning really does come to life when little hands get involved! ❤️

💛🌈 A Day Filled with LOVE at Sunshine & Rainbows!
Some of the very best moments aren’t posed for the camera… they’re the ones we catch along the way. 📸❤️

Today our school was filled with **smiles, laughter, hugs, proud grandparents and some very happy preschoolers** as we celebrated our wonderful Grandparents’ Celebration!

From creating together and sharing special activities, to simply holding hands, talking, laughing and enjoying time with one another—there was SO much love throughout Sunshine & Rainbows today. 🥰

We loved watching our students proudly show their grandparents around their school and introduce them to a little piece of their Sunshine & Rainbows world. 🌈

Today, the Green Tree Frogs and the Orange Tabby Cats were surprised with end-of-year award ceremonies! 💚🐸🧡🐱

All year long, we have talked about how each of us has special gifts to share with others — not gifts wrapped in paper or bought at the store, but gifts from our hearts, minds, and creativity. Today, each child received a special award ribbon from their teachers along with encouraging words and praise celebrating the unique qualities they bring to our classroom family.

We hope they shared what their ribbon was for! Their smiles, excitement, and the applause from their classmates made today so special and unforgettable. We are so proud of each and every one of them.
