It may look like they’re simply reading together, but look a little closer. They’re sharing the book, waiting for their turns, listening to one another and celebrating as a group. That’s a lot of learning packed into one sweet moment! 📚

Small Moments. Big Learning. 🥄❤️
Learning to use a spoon may seem simple, but it takes coordination, hand strength, patience, and practice. With individualized attention, we were able to slow down, observe what wasn’t working, and adjust our approach to help him find a grip that gave him better control.
The best part was watching the adjustment click, seeing him successfully use the spoon, and noticing the pride in his smile.
At DIY Early Learning Center, we meet children where they are and give them the support they need to experience success.

As the committed owner of DIY
Early Learning Center, I love being part of work that reaches beyond my program and into the larger community 💙
Through my involvement with SPNA, I’m connected to initiatives like this, partnering with the City of Chicago and the Mayor’s Office to support families on a much bigger scale.
That kind of connection matters. It means the care, resources, and experiences I bring into my program are shaped by what’s happening across the early childhood field, not just within my four walls.
If you’re looking for a program that’s informed, connected, and truly invested in children and families, this is the kind of work I do behind the scenes.
And if you’re in the city, this is a beautiful event for families, don’t miss it! 🎉

🎉 Last month SPNA was invited to join the planning committee for Chicago’s largest family playdate in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office and the Chicago Park District!

We’re excited to share the details and hope you can join us for this fun-filled Week of the Young Child celebration 💙
📅 April 11 | ⏰ 10 AM – 1 PM
📍 Maggie Daley Park✨ FREE for all families!

Enjoy games, crafts, music, snacks, and more—bring the kids and invite other parents!

Special thanks to SPNA members Lenore Johnson and DeCarla Burton for their contributions to the planning, and to the 20+ SPNA that volunteered to help make the day a success. We appreciate you!

🥕 Charcuterie… for kids? Yes!
At DIY Early Learning Center, snack time is about more than just food — it’s about discovery. Today, the children experienced a colorful charcuterie board filled with healthy bites.

For some, it was their first time trying new flavors — like crunchy yellow peppers 🫑 and sweet pineapple 🍍. Others proudly showed off their love for blueberries 💙 (and even what a “brain freeze” feels like 🧊🤣).

These little moments build:
✨ Confidence to try new things
✨ Fine motor skills & independence
✨ Joy in exploring healthy habits

Every snack is a chance to learn, grow, and giggle together. 💛
