Our Final Blue and Gold Award – Steelmen of the Season! This award is voted on by our Spring Coaches. This year's winner: Makinsey Whitmore, from Girls Track!

From Coach Majerus: Makinsey Whitmore has put together one of the most dominant throwing seasons in Joliet Central Girls Track and Field history. Throughout the 2026 season, she earned numerous medals while consistently competing at an elite level in the shot put. Makinsey is the current Joliet Central Indoor Shot Put Record Holder and captured both the 2026 Indoor and Outdoor SPC Conference Championships. She continued her incredible season by winning the 2026 IHSA Sectional Championship and ranked 4th ahead of the IHSA State Meet with a throw of 12.39 meters. Her dedication, focus, and growth throughout the season have helped establish her as one of the top throwers in the state of Illinois.

From Coach Reed: As a Freshmen he was in the top ten for Triple Jump at Sectionals. Surpassed the 40 foot mark this season which is remarkable. Personal best 41'3 jump!

From Coach Spata: Stephanie gives 110% on and off the field—first in line, hustling, improving, and leads by example. She also earned the team’s highest GPA!
