Congratulations, to CVES 6th Grader, Daphne Wicks on receiving Grand Champion 4-H Goat Showman at the American Legion County Fair in Ebensburg this week! This is her first year showing! We are so proud of you!

Congratulations to Avery Fyock, CVES 6th Grader on her accomplishments at the American Legion County Fair in Ebensburg today!
💙Avery did an awesome job with her goats today.
😎She got 1st place out of 8 for the Stockman Contest, which is a written test on goats! She won a cooler for her prize!
🥈She got 2nd place out of 4 in Showman.
🥇Bunny and Bandit both took 1st in their classes and Bunny got Reserve Grand Champion Doe out of 4 first place winners.
We love seeing our Blue Jays doing great things! Way to go, Avery!

Did you know that Eastern North American monarch butterfly populations have dropped by over 80% since the 1980s? We have 2 staff members who are trying to help improve that! Ms. Thomas and Mrs. McGowan have brought in close to 3 dozen monarch caterpillars for our CVES students and staff to observe as they change into beautiful butterflies!
🐛Classrooms who wanted their own container, received some caterpillars and milkweed. This week, many of those caterpillars have transformed from a caterpillar, to a J and then into a green chrysalis. Now the waiting begins for those beautiful butterflies to emerge! They will also be tagging the butterflies and tracking them through the Monarch Watch.
🦋 The Waystations are public or private properties in which the owners are protecting the milkweed plants or the Monarch ecosystems. Because of the 250 country anniversary, the Laurel Highlands area wanted to celebrate by reaching 250 Monarch Waystations.

🔍It sure is an exciting time for our students and staff! Hands on Science!
