The Robin Reaves Memorial Scholarship was created as a meaningful way to honor Robin’s life by helping students pursue their dreams.

Robin had a deep love for caring for children through her work at a daycare, and the impact she made was felt by the many children and families who adored her. Though she began her own journey toward becoming a teacher, she was unable to complete it.

Through this scholarship, Robin’s memory lives on by supporting students who aspire to work with and uplift others.

Created to honor the life, accomplishments, and enduring legacy of Aditya Mahajan, this scholarship celebrates a dedicated student, talented musician, and compassionate individual whose curiosity and commitment to excellence touched every stage of his life.

Through this endowment, Aditya’s legacy will continue to inspire Johnston students to pursue excellence in academics, the arts, and community engagement.

The David and Mary Moermond Endowment reflects a deep commitment to the Johnston community and its students. After more than 30 years in the district — including Mary’s 35 years teaching French at Johnston High School — the Moermonds believe in investing in future generations.

Created in memory of David, who returned to school at age 30 to earn degrees in Civil Engineering, this scholarship honors his belief that investing in yourself is one of life’s most valuable investments.

What an AMAZING NIGHT!

The Dragon Scholarship Fund was honored to recognize a number of our Johnston High School scholarship recipients during Senior Recognition Night on Wednesday.

In all, 188 JHS seniors received Dragon Scholarship Fund scholarships worth $94,474. These meaningful and impactful scholarships wouldn't be possible without YOUR support of DSF throughout the year. Thank you!

What an incredible week for the Dragon Scholarship Fund!

Our 23rd Annual DSF Auction has officially wrapped, and we are thrilled to share that we unofficially raised $27,000.

That number is significant — it represents 27% of the total funds we must raise each year to provide scholarships to Johnston High School graduates continuing their education beyond high school.

To everyone who donated items, placed bids, shared posts, encouraged friends, volunteered their time, or simply supported us from afar — thank you. This truly is a community effort, and we could not do this without you.

This weekend as winners picked up their items, I had the privilege of visiting with so many of you. Hearing your stories — why you participate, why you give, why you believe in this mission — was one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve had in a long time.

It filled my heart to be reminded that this is about so much more than an auction. It’s about investing in students, celebrating generosity, and strengthening our Johnston community.

This volunteer role is one I cherish deeply — and days like today are exactly why.

Thank you for believing in the Dragon Scholarship Fund. Here’s to many more days like this. ❤️
