DISTRICT TO CLOSE MONDAY (3/16) DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER THREAT

Johnston, SC – Following the latest forecasts and recommendations from state and local weather and emergency management officials, the Edgefield County School District will close schools and buildings on Monday, March 16, 2026, ahead of potentially damaging winds expected to exceed the 40 mile-per-hour threshold for safe school bus operations, damaging hail, and a threat for stronger tornadoes.

All after-school activities and athletic events scheduled for Monday (3/16) are also canceled. Please stay safe and make all necessary emergency preparations ahead of the storm’s arrival.

We will provide additional information regarding a makeup date and a plan for assignments later this week. Thank you for your support of the Edgefield County School District.

Yesterday, our band traveled to Carowinds to compete in the Festival of Music. Our students earned an excellent rating and represented us well. Congratulations to our amazing band director, Mrs. Dunton and the students!

Thursday night, we hosted over thirty families for a first ever STEAM night. From flickin’ chickens and making slime to creating circuits and building 3D models, our students and their families had a great time. A special thank you to Mrs. Mosuch and her team for organizing the event.

Our J-E-T “Page Turners” competed in Battle of the Books on Friday and came out on top. The team, led by Mrs. Widell, consisted of Truman Massey, Hope Jacobi, Izzy Cain, Rebecca Childs, and Danilo Juarez. Congrats to the J-E-T Page Turners!
