Our 5th graders had an amazing time at the 5th grade Show Case hosted by STHS. Students were able to see first hand all of the incredible career and extracurricular activities offered at Strom Thurmond High School.
Each booth was full of interactive activities led by current STHS students.

Many of the rotatations were led by former JES Bears, making this experience extra special. Our Bears enjoyed each rotation. A highlight was certainly meeting the snake and bunnies at the Veterinarian Science booth. However, each rotation provided awesome hands-on learning experiences for our students. Our 5th graders were able to experience everything from holding real welding helmets and examining tools, to holding a model of the human heart, to twirling flags with the STHS Rebel Regiment, to working on wigs at the Cosmetology station. Our 5th graders loved every minute of this special exploratory!

It was a fun but learning filled week in Art and on Inquiry Island. Art students worked on re”create”ing letters to display in their classroom. On Inquiry Island, K5 read “The Bear Snores On” and made bear masks. First grade students read, “A Fine, Fine School, then worked with their teammates to build a school with STEM materials.

Any parent, guardian, family member, or community member that plans on volunteering or attending field trips with any school in our district needs to complete a background check and take one of these courses.

If you completed the course last year, a renewal will be sent out to you digitally, which also must be completed.

Regardless what school your child attends, you may attend any class at any location to receive credit.
