The mission of the Recreation and Intramural programs is to provide recreational, intramural and wellness opportunities for the Johnson community. Through a wide variety of activity offerings, the Recreation and Intramural programs strive to provide opportunities that foster physical, social and emotional wellness. Offerings have been designed to provide equal opportunity for participation regardless of gender, age, race, interests, or motor skill level.

Vermont State University Johnson Athletics is thrilled to announce the promotion of David Ellerbee to Head Men’s Basketball Coach!

Coach Ellerbee has been a massive pillar of our basketball programs for the past four seasons—serving as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s teams, helping secure a historic NAC West Division Championship title, and developing multiple All-Conference players. In addition to leading the men on the court, he will also take over game day event management for the department!

Senior Badger, Kristie Zator, was recognized by the North Atlantic Conference with All-NAC First Team honors, highlighting her dominant efforts over the 2026 season.

Zator's senior campaign was filled with highlights, evident by her Johnson-leading stats in the following seven categories: Runs (34), Hits (46), Doubles (18), Triples (5), Home Runs (2), Stolen Bases (5), Batting Average (.451), OBP (.500), and SLG (.784). In addition to the Johnson leaderboards, Zator ranked first in the NAC in doubles and triples, second in batting average, and third in OPS and SLG.

The Windham, CT native's senior season efforts saw her climb up the Johnson All-Time list, landing the #1 spot in SLG% (.728) and OBP (.483).

The Badgers made history this weekend at the North Atlantic Conference Championships!!

Kali Wooster became the first female athlete in program history to win an individual conference championship, taking first in the 800m and 1500m.

Shelby Royea, Peyton Fairchild, Ida Eames, and Kali Wooster added another title for the team in the 4x400m relay!

The North Atlantic Conference recognized Kali Wooster for a second week in a row as the Conference Track Athlete of the Week. At the Jim Sheehan Invite, Wooster doubled in the open 800m and 1500m, running NAC-leading times of 2:22.36 and 5:03.27, both of which break program records. In a meet of 33 teams, Wooster finished 2nd in the 1500m and 3rd in the 800m (top DIII athlete), securing 14 points. The Women’s Track & Field team returns to competition this Saturday at SNHU for the Ed Daniels Invite.
