I know some of you liked the fact that we ate all kinds of things in my science class. I just discovered a new chemical bond that I had to share. Try dipping a KitKat bar/stick in peanut butter and rate it on a scale of 1-5. It’s my new favorite school snack. 🫠🥜🍫. 1= sardines taste better and 5 is I can’t stop myself, take the jar away and hide it well.

You know my fear of spiders but I still reached my hand in and tried to rescue this butterfly from a yucky web. I was too late 😣. Please keep some natural areas of your lawn for our insects and arthropods.

Get out there and enjoy the eclipse today 🌞. A really cool thing is to take a TP tube out and position it so the sunlight goes through and onto the sidewalk. (Don’t use it as a telescope 🤦‍♀️). The shadow shape is very cool! Then try other shaped hollow things or even the 👌 and see what happens. Nothing to be fearful of, just don’t look directly at the sun like you normally would not do. 👍🏼👍🏼

If you missed the perfect viewing of this lunar eclipse, get this app “Sky Walk2”! It’s free. You have to wait a bit for it to load but then you can point your phone in any direction to see labeled celestial bodies. You can get alerts for interesting events like this or when the International Space Station is in view. Remember to Google Astronomy Picture of the Day too!

I hope my students remember diagramming how a virus takes over a healthy cell, then replicates itself automatically when the cell divides. Please get the vaccine and keep safe. There is more data on the Covid vaccines than any other ever developed (small pox, mumps, polio,…) because it was totally funded and droves of people were willing to be in the test market. Parents have volunteered their children to be part of the study group for over a year. Hopefully the dose levels will be figured out and students will be protected soon. That’s it, except for always think like a scientist 😎🤓

I proudly wore a Science Olympiad shirt on a hike in Hawaii and had a guy stopped and said that he was on a SO team and went to Nationals. He said it gave him inspiration to go into an engineering field and is doing very well. Yay science! This is where some of Jurassic Park was filmed.
