Our East Tennessee State University Alternative Breakers were honored to serve with RAM at its Clinic in Cookeville. What a gift of necessary medical services to those underserved in our community. Thank you!

In ETSU's Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement, we put a lot of focus on serving others. In an effort to better serve both the university and larger community, we invite you to follow us at ETSU Leadership and Civic Engagement for updates and announcements regarding our ETSU Votes, Volunteer ETSU, and Alternative Break programs.

We hope this change will allow students, faculty, staff, and community members to better stay connected and involved through a single stream-lined page.

As always, we are grateful for your support and we can't wait to continue serving you.

We’re ‘Digging into Food Justice.’
Come join us April 9-April 11. Email [email protected] for more information.

Join ETSU Alternative Breaks Friday, April 9 – Sunday, April 11 for a weekend of education, service, and advocacy focused on food justice and sustainability in the Appalachian Region. During this experience, ‘Digging into Food Justice,’ students will learn more about food systems, food security, and sustainable farming. They will be challenged to reflect on the role of food in their own lives and leave the experience with the ability to make informed, ethical decisions in their local community’s food justice efforts. The experience will include interactive and informative Zoom sessions, as well as some in-person, socially distanced outdoor service.

To register and for more information, contact the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement at [email protected].

A little 'Thursday Throwback' on this first ever . We are in the final hours of our 1911-minute challenge (in honor of the year of our founding), an effort to identify and engage donors and receive new and continuing support for ETSU. Will you join me in making a gift to 'Leadership and Civic Engagement' in support of our program? AB is near and dear to my heart. It's had such a positive impact on me - as a student and as a staff member. I want to ensure programs and projects like this continue making a difference for students next year and beyond. Visit www.etsu.edu/give
and select “Other” to designate your gift of any size to 'Leadership and Civic Engagement.' Thank you.

Nearly 60 East Tennessee State University students, faculty, and staff members are spending their spring break week in service and learning around some of the country's most pressing social issues. Teams, led by outstanding student leaders with support from some of our campus's most dedicated faculty and staff members, are in Atlanta, GA (immigration and refugee resettlement); Chicago, IL (criminal justice system and youth); Greenville, SC (human trafficking); New Orleans, LA (environmental conservation); Scott County, IN (health and harm reduction); and Washington, D.C. (religious pluralism). We're so thankful for their time and commitment to social justice and can't wait to hear of the impact this experience has upon their lives.
