Another successful weekend of apprentice block training at Local 538!
We believe that training is one of the key foundations of our local’s strength, stability, and long-term success. Investing in apprentices today ensures that our local remains strong, competitive, and respected tomorrow.
Structured training programs ensure that new members learn the trade the right way—safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This protects our reputation with contractors, employers, and the community.
When our local is known for producing skilled, dependable workers, it leads to more opportunities for everyone. Apprentice training secures our future as a local organization. Strong training programs attract motivated new members, promote diversity, and show that our local is committed to growth and excellence. By investing time, resources, and effort into apprentices, we are investing in the long-term health and success of our union.
In short, apprentice training is not just about learning a trade—it is about protecting our standards, supporting our members, and ensuring a strong future for our local. Thanks to our instructors who have helped make this another productive year of training here at the local level!

In an industry known for strength, toughness, and long hours, it’s easy to forget that mental health matters just as much as physical safety. That’s why we’re hosting a Vitalcog Su***de prevention in the Construction Workplace class for our members on January 13, 2026 from 5:30-9:00 p.m.
Construction workers face some of the highest su***de rates of any profession. Together, we can change that. If you or someone you know works in the trades, this class could make a life-changing difference 💜 Let’s look out for one another and build a safer, stronger industry- from the inside out. 🛠️ if you are interested in signing up, please reach out to the training center and speak with Wendy Frye, or Justin Hamilton to get registered
