Johnson City Schools is excited to announce that Dr. Christy Henegar has been named the new principal of Woodland Elementary School.
Dr. Henegar brings more than 20 years of educational experience, including leadership roles in special education, student support services, and school administration. Most recently, she served as assistant principal at Science Hill High School.
βI am incredibly excited to join the Woodland Elementary community and can't wait to connect with our amazing students, staff, and families,β Dr. Henegar said.
Superintendent Dr. Erin Slater shared that Dr. Henegar's leadership and commitment to collaboration will continue to build on Woodland's strong tradition of success.

Woodlandβs 4th Grade Wax Museum!
Our 4th grade students amazed us this morning by bringing famous figures to life in their very own Wax Museum! With creative costumes and impressive facts, they shared what theyβve learned in a fun and memorable way. Great job, students! ππ¦

Today was such a special day as we welcomed back our Science Hill High School Class of 2026 graduates to Woodland for our annual Senior Tea! ππ¦

Seeing these former Woodland Eagles walk our halls again brought back so many memories and reminded us just how proud we are of all theyβve accomplished. From elementary school students to graduating seniors, they will always be part of the Woodland family.

Mrs. Johnsonβs 1st grade class had a blast reviewing the skills theyβve worked on all year long! Students practiced important ELA and math skills while enjoying fun glowing games and activities. π‘π
It was a great day filled with learning, laughter, and lots of excitement as these first graders showed off how much theyβve grown this year! ππ

A big THANK YOU to Dr. Hymes for visiting our second graders and teaching them all about good dental hygiene! π¦·β¨ Our students loved learning how to keep their teeth healthy and strong through proper brushing, flossing, and healthy habits. We appreciate you taking the time to make learning so fun and engaging! π

What a sweet way to end the year! π Our 1st graders did an amazing job at their end-of-the-year performance, filling the forum with smiles, songs, and so much joy.
