Stay safe, and we will provide further updates as needed.

Shoutout to Upper School Math and Physics teacher, Mr. Jones, for bringing the science of sound to life in Mrs. Hicks' 4th grade classroom! To kick off their new science project, Mr. Jones demonstrated key concepts from their sound unit, using pendulums to explore frequency and showing how different string lengths, tubes, and materials affect pitch. 🎻🔊

8th grader Sawyer took his passion for sports to the next level by job shadowing at the Bobby Hartin ESPN Charleston sports radio show! He spent two hours on air, diving into the world of sports broadcasting and getting a firsthand look at what it takes to make a career out of talking sports.
🔍 As part of the 8th Grade Humanities Career Research Project in Ms. Luckie's class, students explore a profession they are interested in through a one-day job shadow, observing tasks, skills, and the journey to get there. Sawyer is already thinking ahead:
🗣️ “It was a cool experience because I’ve never done something like that, and it was fun to talk about sports and hear their opinions. It’s definitely a career path I think I would like!”
We can’t wait to see Sawyer share his insights at his exhibition later this year!

Welcome, Jessica Hardy!
Charleston Collegiate School is thrilled to introduce Jessica Hardy as our new Director of College Counseling! With years of experience in both college admissions and counseling, Jessica is ready to guide CCS students and families through the college journey with expertise and care.
Originally from Wisconsin, Jessica brings a passion for mentoring students, a love for storytelling (especially when it comes to college essays!), and an enthusiasm for all things education. She’ll officially join us this summer, and we can’t wait to welcome her to the Lowcountry!
Head of School, Andy Gyves, expressed his delight at Jessica’s joining the community sharing, “In our national search for the person to lead CCS’s College Guidance program forward, Jessica quickly separated herself from a very talented field. Her experience and proven expertise are unparalleled, and the way she works from a place of personalized care with each kid, colleague, and family is truly remarkable.”
Jessica is equally excited to begin her new role at CCS. “I’m beyond honored to be joining such a warm, welcoming, and vibrant community. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and work closely with our students and their families, helping them navigate the college journey with confidence. I’m truly excited to guide each student in discovering the path that’s perfect for them!”

Our Story
Nestled under grand, moss-laden live oaks, Charleston Collegiate School offers a thirty-acre campus of vast playing fields and wooded trails. Located only twenty minutes from Charleston’s sophisticated historic district on one side and Kiawah Island on the other, the school stands in the middle of the rural beauty of John's Island. Originally called Sea Island Academy, the school was founded in 1970 to serve local families who valued quality education. As the school grew, a decision was made to focus its energies on a more rigorous, college-oriented curriculum, and in 2002, it was renamed the Charleston Collegiate School. Because of its unique location and its far more diversified population, Charleston Collegiate attracts students from far-reaching areas such as Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, the Isle of Palms, and Summerville.
The Charleston Collegiate environment values creativity, compassion for others, a passion for learning, and vibrant diversity. Charleston Collegiate School is a nonsectarian, independent school organized as a Lower School (PS-4), Middle School (5-8), and Upper School (9-12). Charleston Collegiate utilizes a Four Pillars of Learning curriculum: Project-based Learning, Fine Arts and Creativity, Leadership through Outdoor Education, and Entrepreneurship.
In addition to a core of remarkably talented, seasoned teachers, the predominantly young faculty at Charleston Collegiate School reflects a dedication to the idea of developing an extraordinary academic environment, sensitive to future needs. Almost 75% of our faculty have Masters Degrees or PhDs. There is a healthy range in age and experience; most teachers are 25-35 years old and bring strong teaching experience.
CCS is the only co-educational, non-sectarian, preschool through 12th grade, independent school in the metropolitan area; this distinction has allowed the school to be far more diverse, with a minority enrollment of almost 25%. CCS is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA), the Palmetto Association of Independent Schools (PAIS), the National Center for Independent School Renewal (NCISR), the Education Records Bureau, and the Coalition of Essential Schools.
