[05/14/21]   Good morning Mt. Zion Families! Please check out our newsletter for information about next week‚Äôs Virtual Parent Night, mask waivers, the date for our 5th grade promotion celebration, and recent photos from school. Here is the link to this week‚Äôs newsletter: https://www.smore.com/hgp1d

[05/13/21]   The following is a statement from the CCSD Board of Trustees:

As a Board of Trustees, we must comply with the executive order to allow for facemask waivers, but we use this opportunity to earnestly appeal to all parents to allow the successful protocols put in place for this most unusual year to remain in place for this school year. Teachers and staff have respected students and families all year long by serving children five days per week. We are strongly urging all families to respect teachers by having your child wear a face mask for the remainder of the school year.

For more information, please see the school district's website. Thank you.

Third grade students were treated to a weeklong course in juggling and its science through Engaging Creative Minds. Their instructor was so impressed, she has volunteered to come back and teach the students some more. What an awesome experience!

[05/12/21]   Good afternoon Mt. Zion Families. We are still awaiting final instructions from the CCSD School Board regarding the mask waiver process that will be implemented according to the Governor‚Äôs Executive Order issued yesterday. As soon as we have additional information, we will update all families. In the meantime, all CCSD schools are still following the existing mask policy, which requires that masks be worn unless eating, drinking, or during socially distanced mask breaks.

---------

Buenas tardes Familias de Mt. Zion.

[05/12/21]   Important Message:
This evening Governor McMaster issued Executive Order 2021-23, that has language pertaining to the use of face coverings in South Carolina public schools. Due to the lateness of the Order, the legal ambiguities, and the absence of a DHEC opt out form, the state face covering guidelines will remain in effect until such time as the agency has the opportunity to confer with legal counsel and provide further guidance.
As noted in the Order, face covering requirements as they relate to students and staff on school buses have not changed as a result of President’s Executive Order No. 13998 (Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel) (Jan. 21, 2021); CDC Order Under Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. § 264) and 42 C.F.R. §§ 70.2, 71.31(b), 71.32(b) (Requirement for Persons to Wear Masks While on Conveyances and at Transportation Hubs) (Jan. 29, 2021).
Charleston County School District will comply with the face mask requirements for schools and buses until further guidance is received from the state.
