Remembering the tragedy one year ago, today, on Maui. ❤️‍🩹
And mahalo— thank you— to all who shared the aloha and purchased my 2024 calendar— you made a difference in the lives of the fire victims. 🤍

Sunday is here! He is risen. Still. Always. Forever.
🤍
Highlight: at church, watching SO many people choose to open the door of their heart to Christ’s knock this morning left me in tears. 🥹 Some were fathers leading their families, all were acknowledging they are in debt as a sinner, in need of a Savior, paid for in full by Jesus, the Son of God, now the Lord of their life.

Also, if you’re wondering what the significance of all this is, please reach out!

Valentine’s idea... grab your camera (AKA phone), and make some Valentine’s in nature. Not just for kids, this is actually great for adults too. Start with finding a stick, the edge of a rock, shell, or use the opposite end of a paintbrush.. “Drawing” can be in the sand at the beach or a playground, in the dirt, in the snow, or even with sidewalk chalk outside. Or if you want it less messy, grab a cup of water, the “right” end of the paintbrush, and “paint” with a wet brush on cement. Embellish with leaves, rocks, sticks, shells, etc. Grab some bird seed, and sprinkle around your design to truly bring it to life! This is a great way to get outdoors in February too. 🤍

Merry Christmas Eve! This is a favorite song of ours this year, and a favorite spot for a pretty in pink sunrise on The Battery. Next sunrise is Christmas!! Merry Christmas!

In case you needed some pretty Christmas cheer in your scroll… Charleston does not disappoint. You can see this beauty on the Battery, as seen here at sunrise.

The love. Oh the love. The bonus of longer sessions is when moments like this happen. Couldn’t have been more beautiful timing. 🤍 And Moms I know the days of littles are full and not easy, but since mine are way out of that stage, I want to encourage you to slow down and soak in the love. It is never a formula with guaranteed results, but things that work well: play, pray, snuggle, read a good book, create, keep off devices, hit repeat.
If you're a mom who has passed the littles phase, what advice would you share? Comment below!!

I had the pleasure of photographing Aharon, an awesome photographer in Atlanta , and her family again. We first met about 5 years ago while she was vacationing on Maui and I photographed her and her family early at sunrise. She recently reached out to me because they were headed to Charleston. It was so awesome to see them all again, and to see how grown up and handsome her boys are too! We did have to recreate a favorite photograph, and had to be a little creative while downtown to make it happen.

Snippet of this high school senior session-- definitely worth a trip from GA to do your senior portraits here! I'll be downtown this weekend for mini sessions-- who wants my last spot?!? It can be for a high school senior, headshots, maternity, pets, or families. So excited!! 🙌🏼
elvington so hard to choose just a few, and I can’t wait to feature more of you! 🤍

Aren't they a gorgeous family?!? While being in the season of "littles" you may feel constant chaos, but when you step back and look back you will see how sacred and beautiful these years truly are. You won’t regret investing in professional photography either. These are a snippet of a Legacy Family Session-- it had been raining when we were supposed to start. But we got these moments, extended family, and a proposal in!!! 😅 Swipe to see what was seen in my camera-- but I was shooting with the edit in mind, and I knew the magic was there. ✨One bonus of my Signature Edit is having a way to bring out all the color and light. And yes, the November Mini Sessions will have Signature Edits, and there are a few spots left! (Link in profile)

My best advice for parents for photos that you love: don’t force your session— just let your kids be. The pressure for the kids to “nail it” is felt by the kids, even if I’m trying to make it enjoyable. And let’s be honest, as adults we have a hard time in front of the camera. But when you approach your photography session as an opportunity to spend time together and have fun, guess what happens?!? You all have fun. Real smiles. Sweet interactions. Everything you wanted, and more! Laugh at the chaos, it is par for the course/life. See how beautiful this season really is. Let your photography session be a time where you breathe deeply and soak in SO much goodness. I know it’s not always easy to do that as mom—REALLY!!—but I’be been through it, and I’m here to encourage you before we meet up with helpful tips, and during with plenty of direction too. 🤍

Maybe it was that time I had to teach an aerobics class to the football team in high school 😳but no intimidation here of photographing these young men. Even if it is not their thing, high school senior boys are fantastic to photograph, and to make them comfortable in front of the camera. Yes, it’s usually the mama that is all about the senior portraits for her son, but the fun part is that at the end of the whole experience both are so happy with their collection of senior portraits!
