✨ August Recap ✨

What a wonderful first month at Messiah Preschool Academy! We made new friends, learned our classroom routines, and filled our days with joyful play and hands-on learning. We practiced letters and early math skills, created beautiful art, built during STEM challenges, learned many new Spanish words, and discovered how to care for pets. We even welcomed some very special animal visitors—including puppies, dogs, ferrets, and our classroom fish, Bubbles! 🐶🐾🐟

August was filled with curiosity, creativity, laughter, and so many sweet memories. We are excited to see what September brings!

A sweet ending to our pets theme! 🐶❤️

Each child chose a stuffed puppy to adopt, gave it a special name, and wrote the name on an official adoption certificate. Then we practiced our fine-motor skills by stringing beads to make a collar and decorated a cozy crate for our new pets to travel home in!

Now the real adventure begins as we learn to love and care for our new puppy friends! 🐾

We had some very special visitors today! Ms. Kara’s friends brought their really big dog, Enzo, and their really little dog, Eloise, to meet us! 🐾 The children loved seeing the differences between the two dogs and spending time with our new furry friends.

We also read Clifford the Big Red Dog, created our own Cliffords during art, and worked together to make a REALLY big leash for a REALLY big dog! ❤️🐶

Today felt a little magical! ✨ We love the beautiful natural light that floods our classroom on sunny days, but today’s rainy, cloudy weather inspired a different kind of light-filled learning. We turned off the big lights, brought out our giant Magna-Tiles, and explored using flashlights inside them. Then, we experimented with the overhead projector, arranging translucent shapes to create enormous, colorful shadows across our classroom walls! 🌈🔦

A gloomy day outside became the perfect opportunity to discover, explore, create, and experience a little classroom magic! 💛

🐾 We had some very special visitors today! Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters brought Macey, an adorable puppy, to meet our preschoolers. The children loved learning how to care for her and what animals need to stay happy, healthy, and safe. Thank you, Furkids, for such a fun and educational visit—and for all the wonderful work you do for animals! 🐶❤️

☀️ Sun Print Science! ☀️

Our little scientists explored the power of sunlight by creating beautiful sun prints! The children arranged different objects on special sun-sensitive paper, placed it in the sunshine, and eagerly waited to see what would happen. After rinsing the paper in water, we discovered that the objects left behind amazing silhouettes! This hands-on experiment introduced cause and effect, shadows, and how sunlight can create change. 💙🔬

🐟 Our little scientists had a fin-tastic day on Monday! We learned about the different parts of a fish and discussed what fish need to stay healthy and happy. Then we received a very special surprise—our very own class fish! The children named him Bubbles, and we are so excited to help care for our newest classroom friend. Everyone also got to take home a toy fish of their own to care for! 💙🫧

We had two very special pet visitors today—Kevin and Stanley, one of our students’ pet ferrets! 🐾 The children loved meeting them, observing how they moved, and learning more about what ferrets eat and how they are cared for. What a fun, hands-on addition to our pet theme! Thank you to their family for sharing Kevin and Stanley with us! 💛

🐾 Week Two was paws-itively wonderful! 🐾

We learned all about cats and dogs, including what they need to stay happy and healthy. Our dramatic play area transformed into a busy pet shop, where the children loved caring for animals, choosing pet supplies, and pretending to be customers and shopkeepers.

For our STEM challenge, our young engineers used a variety of materials to design and build homes for pets. They planned, created, tested, and made changes to make sure their pets had safe and cozy places to live! 🐶🐱❤️

Our preschoolers are having so much fun learning Spanish! Today we practiced “Hola” (hello), “Adiós” (goodbye), “Me llamo…” (My name is…), and “¿Cómo te llamas tú?” (What is your name?) 👋❤️

We love making Spanish fun and meaningful through conversation, hands-on activities, songs, and play! 🌎✨
