Individual state speech was a success, all three events received an overall score of ones. Brady got a 1 in both musical theater and storytelling and Marta got a 1 in poetry.

Ok,I finally got the schedule for State speech at Maq Valley this weekend.
8:28 Brady has Storytelling in center 3.
9:20 Allison has Musical Theater in center 16
10:10 Marta has Poetry in center 13
10:40 Brady has Musical Theater at 10:40 in center 9.
The bus will leave at 7 for these 3, and the competition starts at 8.
You can come out and watch these amazing performers. Spectators are asked to: not video, or take pictures, don’t wear clothing representing the school, and free will donation of 5 dollars at the door. I will post the center map to this post.

We ended up with 5 participants at speech today in 6 events. 4 of those events received 1s and are going on to State in 2 weeks. Brady Gleiter is going in 2 events, Solo Musical and Storytelling. Allison Brown is going for solo Musical also and Marta Wehrspann with poetry. Lane Tempus and Maia Forssberg gave great performances in Improv and Radio Announcing even though the 2s they received did not allow them to move on. I am proud of all the hard work the team has put in. Thank you to all those that came out to support us on this snowy day.

Tomorrow is individual districts at Postville. The bus will leave with the speech team at 7:30 and will be gone most of the day. If you decide to come watch, there is a cash only concession stand if you’re hungry. There is no fee for spectators to come enjoy the performances but a $5 donation is suggested at the door. There is no wi-fi at Postville and IHSSA does not allow pictures or recordings of the performances. For more information on being a spectator, check out the video that I posted before large group districts. We would love for you to come out and support our speech team.

As Large group Speech is over I want to thank Heartland Technology Event Center for letting the Radio Broadcast group use the space and the equipment to make our recorded presentation. I also want to thank Mr. Ginn again for taking on the task of assisting our musical theater performers in large group and individuals. Speaking of individual speech, we have picked all of our pieces and we will have a variety of events that we are entering and looking forward to districts are February 28 in Postville.

Large group state speech competition is this Saturday at West High in Waterloo. Our Musical Theater group is scheduled to perform at 3:40. Please wish them luck and if you can, come support them. Please check the spectator video I posted before districts to know the expectations if you choose to come watch.
