Today, Mama/Miss Nang took time off from caring for our FabuCats and kittens to enjoy lunch with one of her favorite people Sandra Stafford Harrington! Here she’s telling Miss Sandra about all the FABULOUS folks who’ve already donated to help spay & neuter Wayne County kitties in honor of her 75th birthday! THANK YOU so very much to Richard Elliott, Nancy Odum, Will Coley, Amy Monroe Denty (+ Eric Denty, Red Denty, & Sam Denty), Genevieve Claire Strauss (+ Rob & Jenny), Celia Fowler Boykin (+ Jimbo, Griffin, Luke, & Max), Jodi Riggins Ammons (+ Steve, Riggs, & Rhett), Angie Schrum (+ Jason, Jaren, Sidney, & Tyler), Theresa Ellis, and Lisa Perry! The September-October SAT GOLD! course begins on Tuesday, September 1st. Space permitting, late registrations will be accepted through Saturday, September 5th. My SAT GOLD! course is a program of focused, 60+ hours of daily SAT preparation. The purpose is to help test takers, wherever they are in their ability and preparedness level, achieve the greatest gains in a short amount of time. The fee for this program is $650, which includes all materials and sessions. The only additional things each student will need are a TI-84 Plus or TI-84 PlusCE graphing calculator and an analog wrist watch. (If they do not already have one, I recommend purchasing an inexpensive Timex with the hours and minutes clearly numbered.) Registration for the September-October SAT GOLD! course is limited to 10 students. “The minute I received email notification of my appointment to the United States Military Academy (West Point) I immediately dropped everything I was doing and called Miss Elliott. I wanted her to be the first person to know, because if it hadn’t been for her guidance throughout the process, I would have never achieved this dream.” To end the night we have one more client to speak on his experience with The College and Career Alchemist! Stephanie Tirado, a freshman attending the University of Georgia in the fall, is here to share her experience and answer the big question that you all may be asking, "Why The College and Career Alchemist?"

"Going into my senior year of high school, I was behind the ball on a lot of things. Being a first generation college student in a rural community is hard because you have absolutely no idea where to begin when it comes to life after high school. I didn’t know where I wanted to apply to college, and I had yet to even take the SAT because I was absolutely terrified of failure. Luckily, Miss Elliott at The College and Career Alchemist was there just in time to quell my fears and put me on track. By the time October rolled around, I was applying for an early decision to the University of Georgia with a 1360 SAT score. By December, I had been accepted into UGA, accepted into the University of Alabama with an $80,000 scholarship, and had a 1400 SAT score. The countless hours of test prep and time spent perfecting my applications had really paid off so I couldn’t be more grateful. She was there to answer all of my questions and pushed me to do more than I ever thought I could. I never imagined myself going to a big university, let alone UGA. Miss Elliott is the best person to have in your corner because she will help you every step of the way and will pour her heart and soul into getting you where you need to go."

Some of you may be asking, "Why The College and Career Alchemist?" Dylan Leach is just one example of why. Continue reading for his story below!

Dylan Leach (pictured left) is a senior at The United States Military Academy (West Point). In his senior year of high school, The College and Career Alchemist successfully guided Dylan through the nomination and appointment process, including coaching him to a 200 point increase in his SAT.

“One of the most integral pieces of knowledge that I have learned at West Point that everyone is expected to know, embody, and instill within others is the seven Army Values. The acronym “LDRSHIP” makes remembering each value easy; Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. While I don’t know if Miss Air has ever heard of the seven Army Values, I know she embodies and upholds each and every one of them on a daily basis. I can honestly say that I have no idea where I’d be in my life right now if it weren’t for Miss Air’s countless, unconditional, unfailing, and selfless actions that have helped shape me into who I am (and where I am) today. From the countless hours she spent instilling in the me knowledge and practices that I needed to improve on the SAT, helping me configure my military academy applications, to continually offering advice and guidance that she knew were in my best interests, if it weren’t for Miss Air I’d either be at a community college, drowning in student loans at a university, or struggling to make it through the ranks of an enlisted soldier. She shaped and paved the road that led me to where I am today, and I will never be able to thank her enough for everything she’s done for me. She is the epitome of the seven Army Values and someone who I will forever cherish and appreciate.”
