It’s a time for exploring…for creating…for discovering about oneself…for meeting the world…for learning how to learn…for being accepted “just the way I am”. It’s a time for blossoming and being cherished…a time for being allowed the time to be a child, especially in a world filled with stress, conflict, worries and uncertainty. ief that children can achieve…that is, they CAN DO a lot. It is the role of the caregivers to build upon those things that children are able to do. We believe that most of life’s learning – including learning how to learn – occurs in the first five years of life. Since each child learns at their own pace, our staff will look to help them to determine the next stage of development. This “can do” attitude does not always result in “perfect” crafts or “easily recognizable” drawings, however, this “can do” viewpoint does allow our society’s precious future to become confident in their own right and enjoy successes in an atmosphere of respect, warmth, acceptance, and love. Time and again, research has shown us that the main component of sound, quality childcare is the trained, sensitive adult who is the caregiver. Through careful selection of a staff trained in early childhood development who value, respect, and sensitively respond to the unique needs that children hold, we feel that children will best learn. The time that they are away from Mommy, Daddy, and their family, must be a blossoming time – a learning time – a time during which they feel secure and accepted – a time that will mold the future. Everyone who has the privilege to nurture and reach out to children – whether as a parent, teacher, church leader or children’s worker – has the privilege to touch the future. For it is their generation that will control the world and move it forward. A child is a person who is going to carry on what you have started, is going to sit where you are sitting, and when you are gone, attend to those things which you think are important. You may adopt all the policies you please, but how they will be carried out depends on them. They will assume control of your cities, states, and nations. They are going to take over your churches, schools, universities, and corporations. All your books are going to be judged, praised, or condemned by them. So it might be a good idea to give them guidance, love and attention, while you have the chance. The fate of humanity is in their hands. We respect parents as the most significant providers of care and nurturance. We are pleased and honored to serve as extended family members.

Both centers will be delaying opening until 8 today due to widespread flooding and not being sure staff can make it in. Lock Haven center will not have any prek counts due to Keystone Central closing and we follow that schedule. Jersey Shore area School District also closed and will make up the day on March 25. As of now the centers are opening at 8 and will send an update at 7. Stay safe!!
