The annual high school graduation is a milestone event for our students and their families. One of our cameras was outdated and lacked the technical capabilities to deliver the professional-quality production this event deserves, so with the help of the foundation and this grant the yearbook committee was able to buy a new Canon R6 Mark II camera with a high quality F2.0 lens.
Besides the investment in new equipment that will last for many years, we have a valuable opportunity to provide students with hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment, offering them tangible skills for future careers or higher education. One such intern was used during the ceremony this year to give every student and family a shot with their diploma after they walked off the stage.
Graduation might have been the first opportunity to use a 2nd camera, but it will certainly not be the last. There are many events hosted by High Tech or by the district that would benefit from having two photographers with separate cameras instead of just one. Also, the camera that was purchased is smaller and more portable than the one that was previously used making it better to send in the field with students. Thank you to the Foundation!
