We had a blast with the opening of Echoverie exhibition curated by our recent BFA grads: Via, Sam, and AJ! The show features 85 works by 35 artists who participated through an open call. Some attended from Paterson and farther towns. Although many NJCU alumni were present, some alumni from HCCC and St. Peters were there as well.

An impressive curatorial project!!

Thanks all for submitting your work!!

The first Eco-Youth Art Exhibition, co-organized by McNair Highschool Environment Club members and the Embankment Preservation Coalition was a big success, drawing numerous families and young artists to the NJCU Visual Arts Gallery.

Huge kudos to all those who were involved and participating artists and their teachers and parents!

It was particularly heartwarming to see the NJCU Art alum, Riya Bhajan, who teaches art at PS 11 and her talented student artists!

NJCU Visual Arts Gallery is happy to present:

Jersey City Eco-Youth Art Exhibition
June 1 – 6, 2026
Awards reception: June 6, 3:30 – 6 p.m.

The Jersey City Eco-Youth Art Exhibition is a collaboration of Ronald E. McNair Academic High School’s Environmental Club and the Embankment Preservation Coalition.

More than 80 students, representing diverse range of ages and perspectives from across Jersey City, submitted their work. Their creations showcase an impressive breadth of mediums — from paintings to sculptures to drawings.

With imagination and skill, these young artists highlight the beauty of our natural world. Their work draws inspiration from Jersey City’s many unique ecosystems—from the Embankment, the massive rail structure on Sixth Street that now supports a “floating forest,” to the waterfront that surrounds most of Jersey City, to the City’s numerous parks—and underscores the importance of protecting these spaces for the next generation.

On May 20, the black box theater at Art House Productions was packed with fans of Prof. Jin Jung, including many NJCU students, alumni, and professors.

Her "In the Morning: A Multimedia Performance" was a deeply reflective audio visual tribute to Jersey City residents who suffered from the hurricane Sandy. Interweaving historical maps, video footage, and her drawings shown on her cranky and an overhead projector, and live music, she created a multi-layered performance that is truly one of the kind.

Congrats 👏 🎉 to Prof. Jung!!

This performance was supported by the Jersey City Arts Council and Jersey City Art and Culture Trust Fund.
