TEDxSaintPeter's is an independently organized TED event hosted by Saint Peter's University, under the theme of "Future Utopias." It is open and free to all.

It is sponsored by the Honors and Social Justice Programs. TEDxSaintPeter's will be a day-long conference, running in the Roy Irving Theater of Saint Peter's University, from 10am to 4pm on March 21st, 2013. Speakers from different fields (human rights, journalism, science, and spirituality) will present their ideas on the theme "Future Utopias - Realistic and sustainable ways to better our societies."

Yifat Susskind is the executive director of MADRE, an international women’s human rights organization. She has collaborated with human rights programs in Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa in order to address problems such as women’s health, violence against women, and environmental and economic justice as well as peace building. Her speech is titled “Fighting the Poverty of Imagination: Building a Future That Has Never Existed."

Dr. William Gutsch is an alumnus and Distinguished Professor of the College of Arts & Sciences of Saint Peter’s University. His experience ranges from working in the renowned observatories like the US Naval and the Kitt Peak National to writing for and directing numerous Hollywood legends like Gregory Peck, Rita Moreno, and Kirk Douglas. He has served as Chairman of the American Museum-Hayden planetarium, and was a Syndicated Columnist for the Gannett newspapers, Science Editor for WABC-TV in New York, and Science Correspondent for ABC's Good Morning America and World News This Morning. He is currently serving as the President of the Board of Directors of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, a position once held by famous astronomer Edwin Hubble, and is also the President of the International Planetarium Society which represents over 700 professional science educators in universities, museums, and science centers in over 40 countries around the world. Dr. William Gutsch is also a writer of books, including the popular science books such as The Search for Extraterrestrial Life and 1001 Things Everybody Should Know About the Universe. His talk is titled “Utopias in Space.”

Dixie Duncan is a CPA in Washington D.C. and also the Executive Director and founder of “Wheels to Africa,” which over the last seven years has collected nearly six thousands bikes for African countries. Dixie will deliver her speech from Juba, South Sudan, where she will be overseeing the delivery of the bikes from the 2012 collection. The topic of her talk is "Changing the world: one bike at a time."
