Welcome to the Common Core Academy presented by the Debra Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education at New Jersey City University. Our mission is to provide professional development to teachers, supervisors, and principals to deepen understanding and support the implementation of the Common Core State Standards in participating districts. Our professional development series aims to help teachers make and manage the instruction shifts necessary to meet the standards.
The purposes of the center are:
-To support teachers in developing an understanding of pedagogical strategies related to instructional shifts as required by CCSS;
-To increase teacher knowledge of rigorous language arts and math content;
-To provide opportunities and support for teachers to design effective CCSS aligned lesson plans;
-To establish a sustainable professional learning community;
-To deepen principal and supervisor understanding of and the capacity to support implementation by creating a principals’ community of learners.
