First he scoops with his whole hand. Then, little by little, his fingers learn to pick up one bead at a time. That small change is a big step!

✍️ Pre-writing skills: the grasp he’s practicing today is the same one he’ll use to hold a crayon, a pencil, and a spoon tomorrow

🖐️ Fine motor strength: building the small muscles in the fingers and hand

👀 Coordination: eyes and hands working together

🧠 Concentration: staying focused until the bowl is done

📦 Order: one bowl to the other, from start to finish
Before children can write, their hands need to get ready. That’s why in our classroom, even “simple” play has a purpose 💛

Try it at home: two bowls and something big and safe to grab, like pom-poms or large pasta. Let them use their whole hand first, then fingers only!
