Final Audition for Youth Lead Roles in Jersey Nutcracker: Tuesday, June 16
Register in Linktree in Bio
Jersey Nutcracker Youth Leads Audition:
Nimbus Summit Campus Audition:
315b Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ
June 16: 5-6:30pm
Nimbus' Jersey Nutcracker offers performance opportunities for talented youth from the School of Nimbus Dance alongside professional company dancers. The roles of Maria & Christina/Christopher require dancers with strong technical skills, expressive movement quality, and the ability to convey a range of emotions from a character perspective.
Candidates must be able to convincingly play a character of 11-13 years. Youth performers casted in the roles of Maria/Christina/Christopher work closely with the professional dancers of Nimbus Dance during required weekly rehearsals, Wednesdays from 7 - 8:30 pm throughout the Fall at the Nimbus Arts Center in Jersey City, as well as a week-long rehearsal "intensive" in early September, during afternoon/evenings. Youth performers in Jersey Nutcracker must be registered students at the School of Nimbus Dance.

A glimpse inside Modern IV.
In this class, Marie Zvosec challenges students to think about the body as a connected whole. During this exercise, she encourages dancers to engage multiple parts of the body simultaneously and in coordination with one another—a hallmark of many modern dance techniques.
These are the details that build not only strong technique, but thoughtful, versatile artists.

On Tuesday, aspiring dancers gathered at Nimbus Arts Center for auditions for our Advanced Training Program, Junior Youth Ensemble, Pre-Professional Program, Nimbus Youth Ensemble, and youth lead roles in Jersey Nutcracker.
We were inspired by the focus, artistry, and enthusiasm each dancer brought to the studio. Pictured here are students auditioning alongside Pre-Professional & Nimbus Youth Ensemble Director LeighAnn Curd.
The first round of ensemble auditions is now complete, but there are still opportunities to join us this Fall! Stay connected for additional Jersey City ensemble audition opportunities in August.
In the meantime, there is still one opportunity to audition for youth lead roles in Jersey Nutcracker:
Tuesday, June 16 | 5:00–6:30 PM
📍 Summit, NJ (at the School of Nimbus Dance: Summit - 315b Springfield Ave.)
The roles of Maria and Christina/Christopher require strong technical skills, expressive movement, and the ability to portray a character age 11–13. Students cast as Jersey Nutcracker Youth Leads work closely with Nimbus Dance's professional dancers and participate in weekly rehearsals September - December leading up to performances.
✨ June 16 is the final opportunity to audition for youth lead roles in Jersey Nutcracker. We can't wait to see the next generation of Maria, Christina, and Christopher take the stage. ✨

Congratulations to School of Nimbus student Melody on an outstanding achievement at the Hudson County Teen Arts Festival!
Melody received both Gold and Top Honors for the choreography of her original work, "Indoctrinate," qualifying the piece for the New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival.
In "Indoctrinate," a duet that Melody choreographed and performs in, she explores the ways media and propaganda can shape our perceptions and influence everyday life. Through movement, the work invites audiences to reflect on the messages we consume and the forces that shape our understanding of the world.
We are so proud to see our students creating thoughtful, ambitious work both inside and outside the studio.
Please join us in congratulating Melody on this well-deserved recognition! 👏

NimbusFIT Jersey City // What happens when adult dancers are invited not just to learn choreography, but to help create it?
At last week's Faculty Showcase, the inaugural NimbusFIT Repertory cast shared the result of a season-long creative process led by faculty member Sarah Barragán.
Rather than simply learning choreography, dancers explored the art of choreographic composition by generating movement material together, studying how phrase work develops, and collaborating on the structure and flow of the piece itself. Sarah then shaped those ideas into a finalized work for performance.
Special thanks to Jaymie Rehberger for sharing the photos!
