25 years later, we remember. The clear blue sky of a Tuesday morning was torn open, leaving behind an eternal scar of rubble and heartbreak, fundamentally changing the entire world. But from the ashes in New York, Washington D.C and a field in Pennsylvania rose an enduring legacy of courage, unity, and a nation bound tightly together in shared grief.

Never forget.

Graveside services are scheduled to be held for Viet Nam veteran Thain (Ty) Yahne at the Dresden Cemetery on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Gordon Pettibone officiating. The Jennings American Legion and Sons of the American Legion will perform military rites. The Jennings American Legion Auxiliary and the Jennings United Methodist Church will provide a light lunch following the services to enable Ty’s family to become acquainted with Jennings and Dresden friends and relatives. Ty was a descendant of the Foster family, early pioneers of this area who were among the settlers involved in the last Indian raid in Kansas in 1878. He was a very active member of the Jennings American Legion and was a resident of Fort Dodge in Dodge City after moving from Jennings.

Ty was also an incredibly accomplished artist who hand-carved sculptures from wood. Some of his impressive work is on display at the Jennings Czech Museum. Ty's kindness, talent, and patriotism are very missed.

This photo is from one of our first dice runs, possibly the first or second. It's Dave and Shirley Haury standing at the end of their driveway on Hwy 9 cheering on the riders. 🇺🇸

Dave is our former Legion Commander and Shirley is a member of the Legion Auxiliary. We lost Dave unexpectedly late last year and we honored him in our Missing Man formation on the last leg of this year's Dice Run.

We miss you, Dave.

The 9th annual Jennings American Legion Dice Run was held last Saturday with around 30 total bikers in attendance. Our event was a big success, with all proceeds going to pay for the fuel on the Run For The Wall stop at Oakley.

Our first stop of the day was in Morland, KS where we had our first dice roll, ate lunch and enjoyed the beautiful new Ray Toll Memorial Veterans Park. The next stop in Stockton was a fuel fill-up and dice roll, followed by a dice roll and a visit to the excellent interactive Dane Hanson Memorial Museum in Logan.

As always, we dedicated the final few miles of our journey to the brothers we've lost in the past year. Our Missing Man formation from Dresden to Jennings was ridden in honor of Dave Haury, our former Legion Commander and Army veteran, Dean Vacura, Army veteran, George Mulligan, Army veteran, and Jerry Rhodes, Army veteran. The Missing Man formation is a 2-1-2 stack, with an open position representative of our missing men. Our condolences to their families as well as our thanks for allowing us to honor these heroes.

We are grateful to all of our Run For The Wall riders who were in attendance, as well as the Run For The Wall photographer Kelly Shehan, who joined us on the ride and got some great photographs. Tom Vacura once again presented homemade wooden flags, this time in honor of Dave Haury and Jeremy Davidson. Tom presented Dave's flag to his wife, Shirley, and Max Mizer and Kathy Tacha delivered Jeremy's flag to his mother Deb. Cash prizes were awarded for highest and lowest dice roll, with much of the money being donated back to the event. Thank you to all of our Legion family members and volunteers who helped arrange our fundraiser, our silent auction donors, and all other supporters. We were blessed with fantastic riding weather, good friends, and community support. We remain forever grateful for the veterans we are able to support with this event.

See everyone next year for our 10th annual Dice Run! 🎲 🏍
