🪶 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE INDIGENOUS DAY CELEBRATION! 🪶🌟
Our Jenks Native American Education students had an unforgettable day celebrating the beauty, strength, and rich traditions of our Native culture in Tulsa.
The celebration began with the Native American Honor Guard presenting the colors as the drum group honored them with a beautiful Flag Song. Tribal leaders shared inspiring words, and princesses representing many tribes gave a moving performance of The Lord’s Prayer in Native American Sign Language.
The Muscogee Creek Duck Creek Dancers and Shell Shakers brought our traditions to life, leading the crowd in Stomp Dancing. Everyone joined in the fun of the Indian Two-Step! Students visited the many Native American arts and crafts booths.
The day highlighted with excitement as our NAE students participated in the LARGEST PARADE in Indigenous Day history for Tulsa!
A heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing NAE staff — Mrs. Bolin, Mrs. Nichols, Miss Deeringwater, our teacher representative, Mrs. Finch and Mr. Beaver (for driving the truck and trailer) — for helping make this such a memorable cultural learning experience for our students!
More than a celebration, this was a day of honoring our ancestors, celebrating who we are, and passing our traditions to the next generation.
Our culture is alive. Our traditions are strong. And our future is bright! 🪶

Native American Club shined bright participating in the homecoming parade. We shared our rich Native culture Preserving Our Tribal Languages decorating our float with the festive Rio parade theme.
A huge shoutout to our amazing club representatives who rode on the float and represented us with so much grace and pride. It was great to see such a huge turn out for the parade!

🍂 FALL CELEBRATION! 🍂
A day filled with culture, inspiration, family, and fun!
🏀 Our special guest, Jerrickson Hosteen, inspired our students with encouraging words and an amazing basketball trick performance!
We enjoyed a wonderful Native American dance exhibition by the Calls Him Jenks students, with their father, Dr. Calls Him, singing at the drum and their mother, our NAE Instructional Assistant, Charlsie Calls Him, sharing in this special family celebration.
Our families also enjoyed delicious Indian Tacos and hands-on Native American crafts!

We had a GREAT Native American Club meeting! Our first of the year!

There were announcements, learning, and celebrating our Native cultures! 🪶

Mrs. Bolin shared an informative lesson on the importance of preserving our tribal languages and why keeping our languages alive is so important to our future. Miss Deeringwater presented an awesome PowerPoint featuring Native languages and videos of Native speakers speaking their own tribal languages. It was a powerful reminder that our languages carry our stories, our identity, and our future. ❤️

If you still need school supplies and did not pre register — today, Thursday, August 6th is your lucky day. We have a few extra supplies, first come first serve. We will be at the Sooner Building until 4:00 pm — no later — must be enrolled in our NAE Program.

NAE and partnering with Greater Tulsa Cherokees are excited to host the Cherokee Registration Event for the 4th year, on May 28th!
If you, a family member, or someone you know needs to register as a Cherokee citizen or obtain a Cherokee ID card, we invite you to come join us!

We are so proud of our NAE students! 🌟
Their hard work, leadership, and commitment to culture and education which continue to inspire us all. It’s an honor to celebrate their achievement with a 3.9 or higher GPA for acceptance in the OISHS!!

We celebrated our Native American Education Seniors!
As our seniors entered, they were honored with a beautiful song by our drum group that set the tone for a truly special night. Our High School Club President, Jada Phetsacksith, delivered a beautiful interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer in Native American sign language, and our guest speaker shared meaningful words of encouragement that will stay with our students as they begin their next journey.
Each senior was recognized with special gifts, including a Native American–designed stole and a stunning stained glass eagle feather—symbolic of pride, strength, and heritage. The excitement continued with door prizes, including a TV, AirPods, and more! We then concluded the evening enjoying a meal of delicious Indian TACOS.
Most importantly, the evening was filled with joy, pride, and deep appreciation as we honored the accomplishments and bright futures of our Native American seniors. We are so proud of each and every one of you! Thank you to our wonderful staff who worked so hard to make the evening special and our student volunteers, could not have done it without you. Special WADO (thank you) to our parents, relatives, administrators, and friends for your continued support of our NAE Program.
