🎉 Big moves for our team today at JWI! We held our first early release day dedicated to subject area Professional Learning Teams (PLTs), and the energy across campus was incredible. Every single staff member on site was connected with a team, diving deep into collaborative planning and student success.

It was a fantastic first session anchored in the 4 Essential Questions of a PLC:

1️⃣ What do we want our students to learn?
2️⃣ How will we know if they have learned it?
3️⃣ How will we respond when some students do not learn it?
4️⃣ How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?

Dedicated time to reflect, align, and elevate learning for every student makes all the difference. Proud of the hard work and collaboration happening at JWI and across the district!

REMINDER: Friday, August 21 is the first early dismissal day of the 2026-27 school year for elementary and intermediate students.

Early dismissal does not apply for Middle School, Freshman Academy, and High School students (grades 7-12).

Every Friday in a full, five-day school week, Pre-K through 6th grade will follow this early dismissal schedule:

Intermediate: 1:15 p.m.
Elementary: 2 p.m.
Pre-K: 1:40 p.m.

Meet the Teacher will take place on Tuesday, August 11, and is held by appointment only.
Here is everything you need to know to get ready for a great year at JWI:

📞 Scheduling Your Appointment
Your child’s teacher will contact you on either Friday, Aug 7, or Monday, Aug 10 to set up your time slot. Please make sure to answer calls from the school and keep an eye on your email!

⏰ When You Arrive
Please plan to arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This gives you time to head to the gym and check off important back-to-school stations!

🛒 Back-to-School Purchases Available:
- School Supplies: $60 (If you already paid via PowerSchool, bring your receipt! Bringing your own supplies? Feel free to drop them off during your appointment).
- Chromebook Insurance: $35
- Yearbook: $35
- Freckles: $25
- Spiritwear
- PTAG Membership: $10 (Your $10 helps fund student experiences, staff appreciation, and school improvements!)

🚨 MUST DO:
Complete your Back to School Registration in PowerSchool ASAP! Appointments cannot be scheduled for families who haven't updated their registration for this year.

2026-2027 Bus Information!

Over the next few days, bus route information will be sent to all parents/guardians who designated their student(s) as bus riders during enrollment/registration.

Please check your primary email address for an email from "[email protected]" which will contain your student(s) route information—stop location, pick-up and drop-off time, and bus number.

Please visit the JPS Transportation page to watch the bus safety video and learn more about expectations for bus riders. Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to review this information with students before the first day of school.
