Navigating school supports for your child can feel overwhelming. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Between IEPs, SLPs, SDIs, and trying to understand what kind of support your child needs, advocating for your child at school can feel like learning a whole new language.

Join jkidphilly for a practical, parent-focused webinar with Stacey Shubitz, former public school teacher, certified literacy specialist, and author of Make the School System Work for Your Child with Disabilities.
Learn how to recognize when your child might need additional support, understand different types of services, and take the first steps toward an evaluation. There will also be time to ask your questions!

Meet the people behind the work.

From fellowships to awards and other professional recognitions, JLV staff are continually bringing their expertise, creativity, and passion to the Jewish community. We’re starting a new series highlighting some of the recent ways our incredible team members have been recognized for their work.

First up: Erin Beser!

We’re thrilled to celebrate Erin, JLV’s Director of Disability Access and Lead Educator for Dough Play Events, who has been selected by the Covenant Foundation as the 2026 Jewish Family Engagement Fellow for her work with Adoughma.

The fellowship supports the development of innovative programming and research in Jewish family education, and Erin’s work is a wonderful example of what that can look like in practice.

In her short time at JLV, Erin has brought together Jewish organizations, academic institutions, and expert professionals to help create more accessible and inclusive Jewish spaces. Her approach starts with a simple but powerful idea: all children, of all abilities, should have meaningful opportunities to play, learn, and engage with Jewish life.

Through Adoughma, Erin creates sensory-friendly environments grounded in Jewish values and text, while also giving parents, caregivers, and grandparents practical tools and new ways to meet their children where they are.

This fellowship will give Erin dedicated time to continue researching and growing this work, while she continues her important work at JLV leading our disability access efforts.

Congratulations, Erin! We’re so lucky to have you on our team.

Three years have passed since October 7, 2023 - a day that forever changed our world.

Today, we remember the lives lost and the families whose lives were forever changed. We hold close everyone who continues to carry the weight of that day, and we stand with our Jewish community here in Greater Philadelphia and around the world.

As families, we know that the way forward begins with how we care for one another, by creating spaces where our children can ask questions, feel a sense of belonging, and grow up proud of who they are.

Even in times of profound uncertainty and pain, we continue to choose connection over isolation, learning over fear, and community over division.

May the years ahead bring healing, safety, peace, and hope, and may we continue building a vibrant Jewish future where our children and generations to come can thrive.

Today, our office courtyard became a little more welcoming - and a lot more Jewish.

We built a sukkah and invited guests - ushpizin. And what a beautiful group of guests they were!

People from so many different backgrounds, communities, and walks of life stopped by to visit, connect, learn and hopefully be inspired by the spirit of Sukkot.

The sukkah is a reminder that Jewish life is meant to be lived with open doors, open hearts, and room for everyone at the table. Today, our little courtyard was filled with conversation, laughter, connection, and a wonderful sense of belonging.

We’re grateful for every person who joined us, and for the beautiful diversity that makes our community what it is. 🍋🌿✨

It's Hispanic Heritage Month AND Sukkot and we're really digging the beautiful illustrations in "Dónde Está Shmata?", a colorful PJ Library book filled with vibrant images and the hunt for something lost.

The book has absolutely nothing to do with Sukkot, but the bright, playful artwork reminds us of the joy of decorating a sukkah and filling it with things that make it feel festive, welcoming, and uniquely yours.

What if your kids could build a Sukkah… without actually building a Sukkah?

This week’s newsletter has a surprisingly simple way to bring the story of Sukkot to life at home - with things you probably already have lying around.

Plus, a few questions that might lead to a pretty meaningful family conversation.

No sukkah? No problem. $100? YES PLEASE.

Welcome to the newest Reta Emerson Fellowship Teen Assistant Program (TAP) cohort!

For 24 years, TAP has been helping Jewish teens become champions for inclusion by learning about accessibility and disability inclusion and gaining practical tools to help make Jewish learning and Jewish life more welcoming for everyone.

This year, 27 teens from congregational schools across Greater Philadelphia are joining the cohort! We’re cheering them on as they learn, grow, and bring new ideas back to their communities.

B’hatzlacha, TAP teens! We can’t wait to see what you do.
