Jenison Innovation Academy A digital & hybrid school that strives to support & promote the success of every student grades K-12

Jenison Innovation Academy delivers accredited State of Michigan programming to students in grades K-12, providing an opportunity to learn in an online community that fosters independence, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving skills. As a part of Jenison Public Schools, elementary students have access to all programs, including music and fine arts, along with STEM lessons each week. Junior high students may take high school level courses for credit, and participate in any or all clubs/activities. Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in MHSAA athletics. Other high school opportunities include: AP courses, attend tech center, college dual enrollment and much more.

At JIA, connection can happen in many ways, and sometimes it starts with a shared interest.

From Art Club and J-STEM to Open Gym, Spanish Club, Book Club, and our newly launched virtual History Club and Global Explorers Club, students in grades 6-12 have opportunities to connect with classmates, explore new interests, and build community beyond their coursework, both in person or online!

Whether students participate every week or simply drop in when something catches their interest, these experiences help make digital and blended learning feel smaller, more personal, and more connected.

Our first college visit of the year is in the books! 🎓

Accompanied by Mr. Mueller and Mrs. Hoving, five students headed to Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI yesterday to explore the campus, learn about academic programs and scholarship opportunities, and get a firsthand look at college life!

College visits are a great opportunity for students to explore their options, ask questions, and start envisioning what their futures might hold. We look forward to providing additional college and postsecondary visits for students throughout the school year!

It's our First Friday Game Day! 🎮 🎲

Join us this Friday, October 2, from 12:00–2:00 PM for an afternoon of games, friendly competition, and time together as a JIA community!

Important: Due to maintenance in the building, all attendees should enter through the north entrance! Our staff will be on hand to direct you to the right doors.

✨ What a great way to celebrate the start of the school year!

Last Friday, over 100 JIA students, families, faculty, and staff came together for our Community Field Day. From games and friendly competition to plenty of time to connect, laugh, and enjoy being together, it was a fantastic afternoon with our JIA community.

🏈☀️ Our First Friday Community Field Day is almost here!

Join us Friday, September 11, from 12:00–2:00 PM at the JIA Local Campus for an afternoon of games, friendly competition, and time together as a community!

We’ll have plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, including a football throw, long jump, chalk art and bubbles, a scavenger hunt, yard games, relay races, Capture the Flag, and more.

🏅 We’re proud to share that Jenison Innovation Academy has been recognized as a U.S. News & World Report Best High School for 2026–2027!

By earning a national ranking in the top 40% of high schools, JIA received strong national and metro-area rankings based on measures including state assessment performance, graduation, and college readiness.

This recognition reflects the continued work of our students, families, faculty, and staff to create a high-quality, flexible learning experience where students can grow, achieve, and prepare for what comes next.
