Congratulations to Carter Cooke for being picked as the MLive Sports top junior for boys cross country in the Grand Rapids area! Cooke collected 3,497 votes, which was good for 78 percent of the total votes cast. MLive had great things to say about him in the article introducing all the candidates:

“Another member of Jenison’s talented junior class, Cooke has shown consistent improvement this fall, opening the season with a 17:14.3, then logging a personal-best time of 15:33.9 at last week’s Otsego Bulldog Invitational. That time currently ranks 24th in Division 1, putting him on track to earn an all-state medal later this year.”

Way to go, Carter, and keep up the great work!

After another successful school fundraiser, Bauerwood Elementary celebrated with MOVEMENT! Students stretched with Fitbody Boot Camp staff members before walking to Maplewood Park to play games and invade the playground. Then they returned to school to run across a finish line full of bubbles and silly string. We loved all the smiles and connections being made among students. Great work Bauerwood! 🎉

Thanks to a local watershed grant, Bursley Elementary School students recently completed tree planting around their campus to help protect the Rush Creek Watershed! The school’s student safety group first met with a local arborist in the morning and then planted the trees later in the day. Great work Bursley! 🌳🌳🌳

The no-look three pointer … nothing but net! 🏀 Teach Like a Pirate Day, which took place last Thursday, is a special day at Bursley Elementary School where staff members share something they are passionate about with students—anything from basketball, volleyball, crafting, legos, and so many other fun experiences.

The school’s 3rd–6th grade students then get to choose from those sessions hosted by teachers and staff. Members of the Jenison Volleyball program even assisted as well at the volleyball session. 🏐

Great idea Bursley! 💯
