So thankful for the incredible partnership between LaSalle Parish Schools and our local law enforcement officers as we continue supporting and celebrating our students through Special Olympics! 💙💛
The Law Enforcement Torch Run was such a special day for our parish, and it would not have been possible without the dedication of Deputy Jenny Parker, the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office, participating officers, school staff, and our amazing students. Seeing the torch travel through all nine schools while students lined the halls cheering was something truly unforgettable. 🏃♂️🔥
A huge thank you to The Jena Times for covering this event and following us throughout the entire day to help share these moments with our community. We appreciate your support and the spotlight you continue to shine on our students and programs!
LaSalle Parish law enforcement officers joined more than 100,000 other officers across the nation who recently participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, or LETR.
Organized locally by LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Deputy and DARE Officer Jenny Parker and LaSalle Parish Special Education Supervisor Jenene Bignar, the event was held Wednesday, May 13, and featured officers and LaSalle Parish Special Olympians parading through all nine of the parish schools.

✨ LaSalle Parish Special Education – Neon Prom 2026 ✨
Our hearts are still full after celebrating our annual Very Special Prom this past Friday, April 17! This is a night our students anticipate all year long - and once again, it exceeded every expectation.
The day began at 1:00 PM as students prepared for their big night. With the help of our incredible Jena High School student volunteers, they were treated to hair, makeup, and nails, helping each student feel confident, celebrated, and truly special from the very start. 💅 Thanks to the ongoing generosity of our community, students also had access to beautiful attire, shoes, and accessories, making the experience even more meaningful.
Once everyone was ready, we headed to the Brisket House, where Jason and Kristyn LeBrun once again showed tremendous generosity by providing a delicious meal for our students and staff. We are so grateful! A special thank you to Lindsey Sellers for providing neon cups and treats for our students and for creating such a fun, vibrant atmosphere with her amazing neon decorations!🎆
Next, we made our way to Jena Park, where families and friends joined us to take pictures and celebrate together. From there, we headed to Jena High School for the main event.
Modeled after Night to Shine, students joined their buddies and enjoyed an evening full of laughter, dancing, and unforgettable memories. The photo booth - generously provided by Chris and Mandy Hughart (Magical Memories 2 Geaux Photobooth and Event Rentals) - was a favorite once again, capturing smiles and memories that will last a lifetime.
A huge shoutout goes out to our amazing buddies who bring so much energy, kindness, and joy to this event. Their impact on our students is truly priceless!
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Judge Chris Peters and Assistant Principal Jennifer Peters for always being part of this special night and joining in the fun on the dance floor.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the Jena High School SPED staff and the Special Education Department for their dedication and hard work in making sure every detail came together seamlessly. Also, we greatly appreciate the staff of New Beginnings Behavioral Services joining us in supporting our students!
And to our incredible community—thank you for your continued support and generosity. Because of you, nights like this are possible, and your impact is seen in every smile and every moment of joy.
This night is a beautiful reminder of what makes LaSalle Parish so special. 🖤💛💙💛
